I am wondering if there is a small mod somewhere that just replaces the chest opening and closing sound. I want to know because I always open and close chests a lot looking for stuff and the sound gets bothersome. Thanks.

There isn't really a best way. Just fly around the end and mine it all with a diamond pick or higher. There are also naturally spawning meteorites that have the ore.

After reading everything through, this idea looks great! If I was to ever play a pack with gregtech, I would have no idea what I was doing. I never used gt before. :p I think that I would play on this server, no question. :) I like communities and such.

My suggestion would be to constantly go cave diving and try to find ravines. I usually find a good amount of certus quartz in them.

Perhaps an actual modpack could be centered around this, and also have the various forms of flight disabled. The mod could also have an expensive "torch" that covers a specific area, around 32*32. It would kind of work like a magnum torch, except it would prevent spawning of mobs in the daytime.
