Overview

Geko's Lasers is a Thermal Expansion addon which adds lasers to Minercaft. The idea was to take the mining laser from IC2, split it up so that each function is a different gun, and then see where it goes from there. Laser guns follow the TE tiers (Leadstone > Hardened > Redstone > Resonant).

As of v0.6, there are 6 types of lasers:
  • Mining Laser: Mines out a single block
  • Wide Mining Laser: Mines out a range of blocks. Think hammers from Tinker's Construct
  • Laser Rifle: Deals damage to things
  • Explosive Laser: Explosions! :D
  • Fire Laser: Burns things
  • Ender Laser: Teleports the shooter to whatever was shot
There are also 4 tiers of each laser. As tiers go up:
  • Energy stored increases
  • Damage increases
  • Radius (where applicable) increases
  • Cooldown between shots decreases.
As well as laser guns, there are also Lasersabers (swords which both burn things AND reflect lasers!) and turrets (very alpha, but "work". They target any and all mobs and must be supplied with a laser gun).

There's also some handy blocks which emit light or redstone pulses when hit by a laser!

But what about griefing?

If you have some sort of block protection mod (or feature) that disables players breaking blocks, then the lasers should respect that. Explosive lasers have a config option that can force them to respect the mobGriefing game rule. Additionally, all lasers will NOT break tile entities.

Textures could be better. Other then that, I will definitely be checking this out. Looks great ^^

Perhaps some way to control laser penetration on both varieties of mining laser would be nice. I could see a misfire from a wide resonant mining lasers ending in a lot of tears.
Make it so you can adjust it from one deep to the level of rifles max.
I would ask for a way for the laser beam projectile to be faster but I have a feeling it's slow due to the reflection mechanic of the sabers, to give folks enough time to react in MC's laggy multiplayer world.

But so far this mod is a solid contender, keep refining it.

I've just finished my end of semester exams, so I can finally get back into modding!

Perhaps some way to control laser penetration on both varieties of mining laser would be nice. I could see a misfire from a wide resonant mining lasers ending in a lot of tears.
Make it so you can adjust it from one deep to the level of rifles max.

This is one of the things that are on my todo list. If all goes well, I'll have an update out within a few days with that in there.
