It's, unfortunately, almost certainly not a RAM issue, the log has no indication of a crash. Though I'll go with Omicron, try the tech support forum.

You can also use Iron Gates, Pipe Wire, and Cobblestone Structure Pipes, but that's probably a little too roundabout for practicality. Plus you need an Assembly Table for the Gates and Pipe Wire.

Rule of thumb: Pumps are for picking up blocks of liquid, not pumping it out of stuff. Just pop down a Wooden Waterproof Pipe with a Redstone Engine. Then Stone/Cobble/Golden Waterproof Pipes.

I suggest watching Direwolf20's mod spotlights, they're very helpful. In terms of learning about stuff, you'll probably want to start out with Buildcraft, Thermal Expansion, and Industrialcraft, they're fairly simple mods that introduce a lot of the main block interactions in FTB. Then start...

Hmm. Tree farm, boiler, steam for power? Fusion Reactor? Starting out's always tough, I still suggest a Tree farm. Unless you're running a server, 1 GB should be adequate usually, though I occasionally find myself needing 2.

Looks like it's a custom superflat world, which, even if generate structures is set to on, pretty much rules out option 1. Option 2, perhaps?
