Both inputs to a shaft junction in merge mode have to be at the same speed. A multidirectional clutch with two inputs would only transmit one of its inputs depending on a redstone signal, just like the current multidirectional clutch transmits its input to an output depending on redstone.

Right. But the CVT requires bedrock and belts. Basically it seems like a multidirectional clutch that has two inputs and one output is what would be called for.

Place a gravel gun and a wound spring (charged with the winding machine) in the RoC workbench thing. It should pop over to the right and the coil will be uncharged. Simply have gravel in your inventory and you are good to go.

True, but it seems wrong to me to rely on another mod. That is the whole point of the magnetostatic tiering, to stop people from just doing TE instead of RotaryCraft. In a world without TiC the tungsten thing would be SUPER annoying.

Some other issues: There are some new items, so if you are using a texture pack, watch out. You need tungsten now for some things (like the turbines and magnetostatic upgrades). The only way to get tungsten is by using the extractor on silk-touched redstone. WTF? (Oh and it is only like a 5%...
