You definitely need more RAM, I'd upgrade to at least a total of 8. You might want to look in to upgrading your CPU, Minecraft doesn't take advantage of multithreading all that much if I remember correctly. Considering you're on a laptop your upgrade options are really limited sadly :/

Indeed. If you have a slow machine on Windows, don't let explorer.exe fool you. The program might be detected as not responding, but if you check the console log you might still see ongoing activity. Especially for Infinity it really boils down to being patient.

Excuse the stupid question, but is it safe to assume that updating certain mods, like Botania would effectively break the quests in this pack? I'd like to give this pack a try but noticed that the Botania version is pretty old.

Botania lets Dispensers plant vanilla crops to the block they're facing, not saplings though.

What keybindings were you expecting? I thought mousewheel would have been the most straightforward but I guess I am wrong. Its a good suggestion idea though, to make the lexicon commands keybindable.

I'm not sure whether this is doable, but doesn't a Comparator emit a certain level of redstone pulse if placed next to a growing crop? Once the crop is fully grown the comparator should emit a signal, which you could hook up to a redstone spreader that would fire the pulse to a drum.
