It's probably just due to the pump sucking up water faster than it can refill. Try using a 3x3 pool of water, with the pump over the center block.

Try deleting the NEI config file/the folder in the saves folder and tell me if that fixes it.

I don't know about the volcanos. Could you toss me the Forge log, so we can see what's printed there? Also, in the spikes section, under blocks, you might want to put a comma between iron and gold.

Sometimes biomes might have a special name to prevent conflicts between mutiple biome-adding mods, such as highlands_mountains or something similar. Try popping into a world, finding a volcano, and hitting F3 to see what the biome's actual name is. Otherwise, the json looks stellar.

Feed the Beast can only end up moving across versions once mods have updated to those versions. We're only a little reliant on mods updating :P
