Depends on how much power you want to put in it. But the maximum it can do is from y level 0 to 256 with a radius of 100 (so that's a diameter of 200 blocks). Basically it is a cylinder and you decide the height and radius of it in the GUI.

(4) If only in your base you can get creative flight from the RFTools environmental controller.

If it is for inside your base you can use the RFTools environmental controller which is like a vanilla beacon (which you can use too btw) but needs RF and can do a bigger range.

No not yet. I didn't manage to get that working properly yet. I did manage to avoid the exploding beds though (which is the default behaviour if you sleep in a dimension other then the overworld :-)

Is that very useful? The two most common dimensions that people make are void worlds (which you cannot do with the above proposal as far as I know) and mining worlds which are typically flat worlds but not the way Minecraft usually generates them because setting a quarry at height 5 will not...

Isn't that mostly what RFTools does but then without the costs (which you can remove in the configs btw). Unless I'm not understanding the proposal.

As the RFTools mod author I (obviously) tend to use RFTools for my dimension usages. I typically make dimensions for void ages as well as mining ages. Sometimes when I have a rather nice floating island type dimension I tend to make bases in that as well. However, I still like Mystcraft a lot...

Well I like RFTools but my opinion my be slightly biased so perhaps don't listen to me :-)

RFTools offers similar functionality as Mystcraft (in terms of dimension building at least). There are a few differences however: * Balancing in Mystcraft is done with instability. In RFTools it is done with power usage. * In RFTools it is possible to craft the basic dimlets (i.e. think pages)...

Well I have never installed a server with plugins so perhaps someone more knowledgable should answer this. If you delete Mystcraft then you will no longer be able to create custom dimensions using the Mystcraft mod. In Infinity however you can also do this with my mod RFTools. The difference is...
