I think I'm misunderstanding the logistics of it. Here's my setup right now and the problem is readily evident in the second image:

I want the byproduct of using the sawmill - the sawdust - to automatically be compressed by some nature of machine and then sent through a transport pipe. How would I achieve this? I've tried a project table to no avail.

Err... will it all work okay if they're all enabled? I don't mind a bit of extra hassle if it'll save me the ore gen problems.

Found the problem! Serves me right for copying Dire's pack config without looking into it further. The IC2 & Forestry configs were disabling the generation of these ores. I *think* that's the only problem that's been occurring.

Doesn't Minecraft usually crash when there are ID conflicts? Besides, I don't recall anything about ID conflicts in the logs I've read or in the MultiMC console.

I've been going wherever the lack of torches leads me and mining literally everything on the way bar coal. I guess my average block level is around 30. Not died at all, I'm at experience level 44... Doing a strip mine at level 47 right now, found only iron, cinnabar, sapphire, ruby, apatite...

Nope, I've just been doing lots of cave exploring. I've got it down to a bit of a fine art and admittedly I've gotten very fortunate with the diamonds compared to usual at this point. I'll set up a strip mine around level 47 and see how it goes. :)
