As far as I know the redstone conduits(guessing that is what you mean) are not meant to interface with any pipe. You can use redstone energy cells with normal conductive pipes however, the energy cell acts like an engine so a wooden conducive pipe needs to be used to drain it.

People not knowing that most coding is like that is why so much "when is mod updated/done" whining goes on :S
