I have a bug where i have to extract the mods and install them manually but if i do it says i need a updated forge version i need help fixing it

i updated to the latest recommended version (1.0.9) and didn't have any mods so i unpacked the Direwolf20 zip file and got ll the mods but s soon as i launched after doing that it said i need forge 9.11.1.965. how do i fix that

I updated and i lost ALL the mods it didn't crash but all i had was forge i tried forcing updates moving to a different version but no fix help me plz Edit:I dont even have forge anymore
