    i agree generally, aye... it's only 'cause i've had blocks be a little weird with AE, but not be weird with hoppers... as if the block was checking what was there rather than just "taking sides" as it were... on my brief playing with dartcraft a while back i found it to have "curious" mechanics...

    and you can spot the glowstone armour ones a mile off :) i also had a mob farm in my last world with turtles doing the culling, then another crafty turtle would combine any armour in the drop chest by analysing them with openperipherals until they were all repaired... i had a wonderful wardrobe...

    in 1.7 I've just set up my first 4x line... and as soon as the machines started, it did seem to drop in half for me too. [ 30 -> 15 ] - it seems, on quick test, to be the purification chamber that does it... as when i took the shards it was processing out, it went back up... only circumstantial...

    whilst i haven't experienced the issue, i am running almost all the mods you list via my own bastardised version of the atlauncher bevo's tech pack... if you head to their site and check the mod list for the latest version of that [10.2 i think] and remove mods which /aren't/ on the list there...
