Hello all.
As the title says, none of 1.7.1 pack run, while 1.6.4 pack work just fine.
I press launch, and here is the error at FTB-launcher console (minecraft itself is not running.)
  1. [23:06:13] [ERROR] ProcessBuilder.start:-1->MCInstaller.launchMinecraft:409: Error while running launchMinecraft(): java.lang.NullPointerException
http://pastebin.com/guJPDPnd

I tried google it, but no answer was found.
I tried updating java to 8 version - didnt help. But then again, 1.6.4packs work fine at both 7 and 8 versions of java.
I tried to run some other random 1.7 packs, they work fine.

P.S. Posting this thread in genera, because it a general 1.7packs error.

You seriously need to do a Java cleanup

Uninstall them all and install java 7 64 bit only, 1.8.0_25 does not work with MC.

Incorrect. Mojang is loading Java 1.8.0_25 with their new self-contained launcher. The latest version of Forge works with 1.8.0_25. Any issues encountered are probably an older version of Forge. I've been using all versions of Java 1.8 when they've been released with no issues on Direwolf20, Unstable, Agskies and Crash Landing FtB packs as well as a few packs from other loaders.

As far as the OP's problem goes, all of the old Java versions must be removed , in particular the 32-bit versions. Without a complete removal of all older versions you may still have registry entries pointing to the wrong version(s).

As an example, the 1.7 DW20 pack has a recommended memory config of Minimum = 2GB, Maximum = 4GB and a permgen = 256MB... You cannot allocate enough memory with 32-bit Java to run any sizable 1.7 packs.

[Edit] Are you running a 64-bit OS? being able to run a 1.6 pack is no indication since it may be launching a 32-bit Java, which worked in 1.6.

Yep, WIn7 x64 with Java x64 installed.
Tried increasing MaxRAM to 5GB and setting permgen to 256/512 - didnt help.
And i did unstalled ALL previous Java, not that i had much of it. Including registry entries.

I also tried run 1.7 pack on a completly fresh Windows (same PC) - didnt help either.

I also tried downloading some random 1.7.10 pack, copying EVERY file to corresponding folder, from FTB Res to that new Pack, and it (random pack) works. The only troulbe was caused by these two mods CoFHCore-[1.7.10]3.0.0B8-36.jar / CoFHLib-[1.7.10]1.0.0B7-29.jar. I keep trying.

Thats the thing, not only i can run 1.6 packs, but also vanilla/not-ftb-1.7.10-packs.

Edit - Also make sure you are using the newest version of the launcher. You may want to redownload it and see if that helps as well.

Try changing your download location under Options / Advanced Options to CurseCDN and do a force update. I have had this happen before and it was a bad download from various locations. CurseCDN is usually the most stable when downloading the packs

I am really ashamed of myself, but it was outdated FTB launcher afterall.
To my defense i can say, that i thought launcher is only used to download means, but apparently it does something more than that.

No worries, some front end and back end changes were made which needed a new launcher, but it wasn't downloading automatically so alot of people didn't know about it.
