I use the same setup in my world, except it only uses one lava generator. I believe I only need to give it a bucket of lava to give it a kickstart and then it's all set, since it seems that the pump will first transfer the fluid to the generator, then the tank, so no need for a transfer node.

Since the three bonus modifiers you can get come from a diamond + a gold block, a Notch apple + a diamond block and a nether star, I'd say for the next "tier" the price could be something like a beacon + music disc (or something else you can't get in massive quantities from mining/whatever)

If I craft a void jar with a labeled (empty) jar, will the void jar keep its original label? Answering myself, no. Also found a bug (i think): I can put Essentia of one type in a jar that is labeled with another type using this funnel. Thank you for the tip, anyway :D
