Is it possible to change the magical wood recipe to be gold nuggets instead of ingots now that you only get 1 per craft I can see you not wanting people to use easy enchanted items to get loads but that is too much gold cost imo (or is it possible to make it craft multiples with just books?)

Magical wood result is dependant on the levels of the enchants, an item with more than 1 enchantment on it may be better to do that with but on anything with only 1 enchant you are paying 1 book to get the item that the enchant is on

yeah just have to use the vacuum compressor I think its called and then pipe that to a pressure chamber. I think you can also make something like a vacuum hopper somehow
