Xycraft tank keeps resetting and I lose everything in it.

Not sure if this is the place to put this, but this is horribly frustrating. I have a xycraft tank on top of a magmatic engine setup, 4 valves on top, 4 on bottom, netherbrick frame and glass viewer walls.

3 times it has just randomly decided it was not a tank (no blue shimmering lines when I got close to it) and all the lava i had in it disappears. I right click a valve and it is a fluid tank again.

Has anyone else run into this and if so, is there some way to stop it? blocks or items from other mods that might cause it?

what ftb build, pack.

I remember a couple of times using RC tanks a Enderman would tp inside of my iron tank and chill while my lava would disappear. After killing it and putting back the 2 blocks of wall everything returned to normal. I know it wasn't a xytank, but I don't know... maybe same thing?

Never had a xy tank switch off like that before and I used to use them all over the place.

FTB ultimate. 1.1.2

If bugs iwth xycraft tanks aren't common, then its probably our server. The server company said that 3 of us are pushing a server meant for 72 players to 100% CPU usage, we assume they are lying about the capabilities of the server. Most of our bases are even really producing huge power yet so its not like we have 150 combustion engines running or whatever.

Is that 1.4.7 or 1.5.2?

While I haven't had any xy tank problems, I haven't played FTB on a server at all. Its my thought that the server probably could run 100 players... just not well, or the anti-greif or security plugins they run kill the server's resources. I have been on many vanilla raid/pvp servers where the hardware is excellent but the mods they use for anti greif and anti cheat kill it. I don't know why, but everyone will say that xycraft is a complete resource sink for a server. Maybe its totally different for single player. No way to know if the server guys are telling the truth, telling the truth and are ignorant of their anti plugins or what to do about it, or fully aware of the fact that their server can only really handle barely 3 people and say otherwise.

Im on 1.4.7. What is it about xycraft that loads down a server? Is it something we could disable?

Mindcrackers thought xytanks were causing lag, but when they disabled them all, the lag was still there.

Those server admins probably mean 100 Vanilla users.

ow, this makes sense. how big of a server do you need for these tech mods then? The server we use is $30 a month and if 3 people overload it how expensive are servers that are actually handling dozens of players at a time?

probably around 100. And even then, they are all lag city. Maybe the core mindcrackers are different, but I wouldn't know.

How expensive?
A properly built computer for about $500ish seems to do a fine job at it

My friend runs his server from home off his PC, we can get up to 10 people at a time comfortably.

I really think you're getting ripped off

He's prob on a virtual server, over loaded by the service provider, etc.

You're always going to get better service doing it yourself. Course then you have to know how to configure firewalls, OSs, networking, etc.

Also, there is a known issue in 1.4.7 with xycraft tanks and wrath lamps. The wrath lamps cause a lighting source inside the tank which the tank doesn't like. I know I was getting some weird issues until I removed the wraith lamps I had near my tanks.

Just use a RC tank?

I like designing bases with complementing colors/blocks (to my untrained eye anyway) and a railcraft tank is pretty boring compared to xycraft tanks. :)

if it keeps happening ill have to do it though.

anyone have a server company they suggest that is good for ftb servers?

I'd consider the creeperhost thing that is promoted by ftb here and there. and u rite... I have been apart of 2 server hosts that were utter shit and were promoted as potentially top o line hosts...
