So it seems you can't fill the xycraft aluminum cans "manually" (by right-clicking on lava or water, say). Only through a liquid transposer.

What use are they, in that case? I mean if I've already got the liquid in question over to a transposer (and presumably my piping system), then why do I need the cans? I can just pipe it to where I want. I guess if there's a long distance involved and you want to move a small volume...

Do they have some other use that I'm not seeing?

Maybe one you are overlooking/not thinking through entirely: They are a way to move lava/water with aluminum, which is EXTREMELY common. But yes, no other use than that. Except for not making them and making aluminum torches, and confusing with aluminium. Fun times, eh?

A pump in the nether connected to a liquid transposer that sends aluminum cans to an enderchest linked to another enderchest in your base which sends the cans into another liquid transposer to be converted back into liquid. The aluminum cans can then be sent back to the nether either through another enderchest or even the same enderchest, with some extra sorting work to pull the right stuff out of the chest.

Which means you can save thirty-two (two stacks of empty cells) of your tin ingots for something more useful, such as batteries.
