As the title suggests, I personally would love to see this mod implemented in more modpacks officially. I know it's very easy to add it myself to just about any of the FTB modpacks, but I think it would be great if it was in by default in a few more packs.

I just can't get over how much I enjoyed all the new food related crafting and hunger tweaks. I really feel it added a lot of depth to the survival aspect of Minecraft and almost feel a sense of loss without it.

Anyways, that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are others who would disagree and I would like to hear peoples arguments for or against this particular mod.

I have mixed feelings. I love the concept of Pam's Harvestcraft, but I find having to deal with dozens of varieties of seeds annoying at best.

same here... it's nice and all, but as soon as your inventory starts getting filled with seeds, it really gets annoying.
would be nice if there was some sort of seed bag, or have certain seeds only obtainable through breeding other seeds and plants

It works well in Magic Farm 2 with hunger overhaul otherwise I don't find my self actually getting in to it. I have no reason to cook half the things.
I'm kind of against it as without hunger overhaul it's only benefit is that it has some roleplay value.

It seems HarvestCraft and HungerOverhaul were made for each other. It provides a good incentive to pay as much attention to crops and cooking as tech mods.

Well, There is the apple fruit salad.

Anyways, I don't actually dislike the amount of seeds and options it gives you, the only problem is that it makes finding a specific seed very hard. You can break a hundred grass blocks without getting a single wheat seed. If you don't want to interact with Harvestcraft, that sure would be annoying.

Pre-existing content dilution is indeed a tricky problem. I didn't play with BoP for the longest time because of that - it would take me too long to find all the vanilla biomes. Now that I'm playing with MF2 that has BoP properly tamed to my tastes, I'm very happy with BoP.

I agree finding a vanilla wheat seed is difficult with HarvestCraft installed. All you need is 1 to get started with, but finding that 1 is tough. I found maybe 100 HarvestCraft seeds before I found a vanilla wheat seed. Perhaps some HarvestCraft config tweaking could help.

that's why I really want to be able to crossbreed crops with eachother to get other kinds of seeds... it'll bring a whole new mechanic to the mod, that can be very interesting, while it still gives you basic seeds which can be used for simple food... it's a bit like iguana's tweaks for Tinker's Construct, you start of small and you can work towards a better end goal, but you can also stick to the beginning phase if you want

I would like to infuse Harvest craft, agriculture, etc... if they provided anything explaining the mod and how it works. Until then, hellz no.

The only thing missing for me is a GUI that looks into an inventory and tells me what foods I can prepare, and/or identifies what I'm missing. I love the variety but hate trying to figure out what I can do with all the ingredients I've gathered.

If something like this already exists, pray forgive me.

What do you mean by "infuse" and "explaining" ?

A short explanation of each is "cook/prepare much better food." There's not much point unless you have Hunger Overall installed, which nerfs all food benefits, including vanilla foods. With vanilla, you're fine with bread, baked potatos, and simple cooked meat. With Hunger Overhaul, you need something more substantive.

As for how HarvestCraft works, it's pretty simple:

1. Break vanilla seeds
2. Plant seeds in the normal fashion (till the soil with a hoe, plant within 3 blocks of water)
3. Bonemeal if feel like it, or else just wait
4. When ready, right-click to harvest without breaking the plant
5. Shapeless craft harvested crop to get seeds
6. Goto step (2) until enough crops of your type. Skip step 5 when enough planted crops.
7. Shapeless craft food and other items like butter, bowls, etc.,. into better (more filling) foods

To keep full, you shouldn't need but ~4 or so water source block farms, each with the usual crop planting pattern around them. Haven't tried MFR or Golems to automate, but they *should* work.

For a more detailed tutorial, there are several YouTube videos by various people doing a mod spotlight on Harvestcraft.

Haven't gotten into Agriculture yet.

5. Shapeless craft harvested crop to get seeds

Can't swear its from HarvestCraft, but I found yesterday on my Horizons game that I could replant any of the plants w/o converting them to seeds first. Decided the author was a genius as it saves a bit of annoyance.

At work so I can't check and confirm.

I've been through 2 youtubes. They both just skim the mod. There is no wiki. I don't mind youtubes to see an overview, but I don't like going to youtubes when I trying to figure out how to do something.

Same, but at least HarvestCraft is easy. It seems to work like vanilla wheat, carrots, and potatos, just with more recipes and a few special items like bowls and such. NEI is a big help. Just type @Harvest in NEI.

It would make MFR power generation far easier to get into if it accepted those type seeds/plantables... I don't think it would though.

Honestly, with NEI, the hardest part of HarvestCraft is getting and managing a large enough farm to craft the food.

Adding to what MigukNamja said, the main things you need are a stock of the seeds/food, and then one of each of the "cooking tools" . These are used in the cooking recipes, but aren't consumed and have no durability loss (essentially make once, use forever).

Using NEI, you can either start at the top with a finished item/meal and work down to see how all of the ingredients are made, or start with an ingredient and work up to see what you can make from it.

I like the mod. Even out of Magic Farm it makes farming more interesting.

I especially like using it to make candles instead of torches. Not that the candles are all that pretty, but it's a nice way to make light without wood.
