Working Oil Well In FTB

Hey Guys!​

I am working on a large project, A working Oil well in FTB Ultimate.​

Its not done, But so far ive got ​

• Living quarters and entertainment center.
• Kitchen
• Restroom
• Spire with Pump
• Tanks
• Command Center

The Well is "working", meaning that it pumps oil, and puts it in tanks, but i have much to do.

I plan on adding

• Refinery
• Engine Blocks
• Fuel tanks
• Ship docking station and pump into ship
• Helipad
• I have taken a ton of screen shots.​

Computer Controls:​

First Computer(Second level of Command Center)​

I dig it. To bad oil does not work like ti does in real life where a rig like this can tap a feild for years.

Maybe if you lucked out and for one of the oil feild biomes.


But yeah nice build. Needs an oil tanker to go with it.

UPDATE:


I got the refinery and fuel tanks done!

Also, a crane!

With tank filling station.

The idea is that some of the fuel will be pumped into this "movable tank" Which will but put on the tanker ship with the crane, while the rest of the fuel is pumped into the ship's internal tank.

And its all controlled with the central computer.
Commands are :
"refinary-on" (i know refinery is spelled wrong, but i dont feel like rewriting the code)turns on pumps from oil and the refinery itself.
"refinary-off" Turns off the pumps and refinery


Next is:

• adding a light to tell if the refinery is on or not
• Ship Dock
• Tanker ship (big project-lots of time)
• Engine Bank

I took yesterday off from building, but im back!​

I did some finishing touches on the well, and started on the oil tanker​

I had a bit of a problem with water, but nothing a little pump cant fix​

Dear me this looks great! What else is really awesome is you're using buildcraft, a mod that many has left by the wayside. This proves that used correctly, buildcraft can and will look amazing! It's too bad you're playing the older version though, newer versions made some rare oilspawns renewable, which would be perfect for a build like this.

Some oil spouts in newer versions reach down to bedrock. At the bottom of these kinds of spouts, there is a type of bedrock block that will slowly generate oil. It's slow, but at least it's there

If/when I find one of these, it deserves to have an oil rig platform built in honor of it.

(apart from being the author of railcraft, he is one of the main people who maintain buildcraft for those who don't know)

Sorry if it's allready been suggested but how about the arm you see on rigs that burns the small amount of gas that's often found with oil.
It's sometimes just a vertical structure but other time a horizontal crane like arm with a large flame at the end safely burning away the gas.
Must be a few ways to do a flame and will look good at night.

If your not sure what I mean google "oil rig flare boom" and check images.

This is absolutely brilliant. I love it. Great job!

If there is anything I could suggest it would be the flames coming out of the top somewhere like you see on real oil things. Could be like a lit neterrack with a railcraft smoker near it (you could even operate that smoker with redstone for when the oil is being processed.) Also I think twilight forest has a thing that shoots flames you can use. You would need to provide a good source of constant lava under it that it would use. But that could be very cool.

Again, fantastic job. I love seeing stuff like this.
