I see everywhere that "Oh this won't be able to update to 1.7" and "these two mods won't be compatible after 1.7" and I'm just wondering why things have changed. I know that MCP took a while to update but why did it?
More like 300k+Wasn't it something like 20,000 lines of code changed? Yeah, not looking forward to updating WyldCluck to 1.7...
A 1.7.2 version of Forge has been released, so I can only assume that they finished MCP for 1.7.There's also the fact that there's no version of MCP, that I know of, for vanilla 1.7. If I remember correctly, that's basically how Forge and mods exist, and without it, nothing can move forward.
Vanilla Minecraft in 1.7 does not change block IDs in any user-visible way, except in /give. This means blocks still have fixed IDs. Worlds still store fixed IDs. World files do not store block names like minecraft:stone, they only store numbers like 1.
I only know of two MCP versions for 1.7.2 so far: An older one which couldn't even recompile, and a beta from a few days ago.A 1.7.2 version of Forge has been released, so I can only assume that they finished MCP for 1.7.
Aye, I was referring to a stable version. I know I wouldn't work without a version of MCP that's at least mostly stable.
Also, why's it strings? With the work a string table would require, you could probably just use a dictionary or hashtable, one each for both blocks and items, with a regular int as a key. Or, hell, if you want as many IDs as possible, just use a long. Unless there's some implementation details I'm missing here...
All of the above was the long of it.I see everywhere that "Oh this won't be able to update to 1.7" and "these two mods won't be compatible after 1.7" and I'm just wondering why things have changed. I know that MCP took a while to update but why did it?
Really?Unfortunately a lot of mod devs are saying "screw 1.7" and not updating past 1.6.4 unless 1.8 is better somehow :/
Well like I said before 1.7 it's not as stable as 1.6 1.8 however will more stable so it's a good starting point for mod devsUnfortunately a lot of mod devs are saying "screw 1.7" and not updating past 1.6.4 unless 1.8 is better somehow :/
Source(s)? I haven't gotten that impression at all.Unfortunately a lot of mod devs are saying "screw 1.7" and not updating past 1.6.4 unless 1.8 is better somehow :/
I have the impression that mod devs won't work on 1.7 at all because like I keep saying 1.8 will have a more stable build possibly different coding most likely actually do to the massive changes 1.8 or 9 will pretty it up many 1.8 will make it easier to mod who knows the point is 1.7 it's the bomb no one's wants to be there everyone waiting until mojang cleans up the wreckageSource(s)? I haven't gotten that impression at all.
