Why do 1.6.4 modpacks have problems with 32 bit? Curious.

Mindrivet, your question was answered quite well in the identical thread you made in the Mod Discussion section. Long story short Java limitation with allocation of RAM on 32 bit systems. Larger Mod packs need more RAM dedicated to them to run smoother.

Packs before 1.6.4 had problems with 32-bit as well. They just weren't as immediately obvious. It isn't Java, it is memory addressing/allocation limits in a 32-bit OS.

Modpacks are always getting bigger; more mods = more memory required, and it just happens that the amount of memory you're recommended to use is now higher than the 32-bit limit.
