Depends on what you're going for. I think it'd be hard to beat OpenBlocks in terms of ease of use. They're cheap in materials and they take nothing to put together. But, they don't resemble actual elevators in any way. They don't look cool or anything. They're just simple, cheap and functional. 9 times out of 10 for me, that's exactly what I'm looking for. But sometimes I want something a little more involved, like vertical railcraft tracks or pneumaticraft elevators.

I haven't seen Thut's, but looks-wise the RFTools elevator really does it for me. I like how it works, the smoothness and all.

The RFtools elevator is cool but since it moves the actual "floor" blocks when it goes up I always get annoyed with the hole in the floor. I usually end up having to make a fully fleshed elevator shaft with doors at every floor so it doesn't look so derp then I get annoyed with having to deal with the doors and end up using the Staff of Traveling to just bounce through the floor/roof to get from floor to floor.

If I want a cosmetic, working elevator, I love the RFTools option. If I want a quick way to travel large vertical distances quickly, I usually use the OpenBlocks style elevator. I've not played with Thuts, so I have no vote there. On the whole, I enjoy the challenges that RFTools inspires me to do - proper elevator shaft, power, screens, safety doors, and the whole shebang. This is particularly true because most of it isn't required, except for my personal sanity, which forces me to try to pretty up the rest of my hovel to keep up.

I have played with the Slingshot and Slime Boots (add a Hangglider for traveling larger distances) and have to say it's hilariously fun.

Travel Anchors are a fun way to make a base with no hallways, but I rarely use them in a conventional base setting. Still, options are good.
