Where Can I find the potential Error?

Is there a place I can look for errors on my boyfriends PC for as to why every time he plays FTB it crashes to desktop and deletes his world? We have tried completely removing ftb and reinstalling, updating java, tried to find a similar issue on here but I can't find anything or anyone with similar issue. We have also allocated more ram for it as well I might add. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I am no professional, but wouldn't it be counterproductive to allocate more than 2.5 GB considering the Garbage Collector?
What puzzles me is the fact that the world is deleted, I can only conclude that there is some savecorruption going on.

Depends, 4 GB can actually be helpful but is considered the maximum before inefficiency. Other times 4 gogs is too much. 2-3 is considered a sweetspot and 4 the max

we have 3 usually allocated, I don't think it's a permissions thing either I will check the crash report. what would cause the save corruption?
 
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but allocating 11.75 gigs of RAM ISN'T a good idea...?
 
That's the hats bug. Upgrade or remove hats. Remove to be sure, iChun has been fighting this bug for a long time now and it's been declared fixed more than once...

The bug occurs randomly and afaik not for everyone.
Disabling it in the launcher is enough. Make sure to disable hat stands as well if it's in the pack and active or Minecraft won't start.
