Whenever i die on my friends server i lag out really hard plz help

My freinds hosts a ftb server he lives 10 min away from me IRL the server is okay a little laggy sometimes but when i die or teleport somewhere i lag out like i keep on rubber banding and cant break blocks. i get 140 fps so that is not a problem he has whatever the default amount of ram allocated to the server is i think 1gig i dont know what is causing this

THe 1 gig is the issue get like 3 at the least

how do i allocate more to the server

he has 8gig 4 for his client so he can probaly do like 2.5gb for server

10 min away in RL .... lol he could be the otherside of the world it doesn't matter to the internet. If you're on the same ISP that would essentially help otherwise your traffic could be bouncing all over the world.
