Actually, I disagree.

The context of BanzaiBlitz's post is reference's Eloraam's mod, not the FTB pack, so I'm not entirely sure why your disagreement was something you'd consider warranted here. Can you explain?

Actually, I disagree.

It's up to the FTB team. RP2 doesn't have to be included if Eloraam can't keep pace with the rest of the mod makers. If she doesn't have an update out by May, I'd seriously say drop the mod. It would mean that she'd only had a single update over the course of a year. That's not often enough to be considered a worthwhile mod for a modpack.
I understand the sentiment.

Personally, I feel now that an initial Ultimate is present, an actual FTB map may be based on where we're at. Given the pace of updates and new feature releases both by modders and Mojang, it'd just drive me nuts trying to work on a map of that scale while keeping pace with updates. o_O

We'll just have to see what the FTB team presents as we go forward. :)

The context of this entire thread, forum, and website is the FTB pack, and the context of my disagreement is exactly what I quoted:

Whether anyone feels this is acceptable or foolish does not really matter in the end

It absolutely *does* matter what other people feel about the matter. If the FTB team, or those that use FTB feel that Eloraam is taking too long, our opinions *do* matter, and Eloraam can absolutely be free to develop her mod incredibly slowly on her own free from the expectations of the mod pack, by simply not being part of the mod pack.

We are only two months away from her mod officially having only a single update in a year. Two months away.

And? I swear people think life doesn't happen and the mod makers just sit in some cave banging out code.

You're assuming the entire opposite of my point. My point is that I don't want RP2 around if it's going to be slow.

She's absolutely free to live her life without ever updating the mod again. I don't care one way or the other, I've never actually used any aspect of RedPower2 (with the exception of dumping whatever that blue dust is into Thaumcraft research).

But FTB needs to update without her if that's the case, not wait for a 1.5 version. She's made it very clear that she prefers control and solitude over speed. That's her choice, and she's free to make it.

Which leads us back to Mystcraft... are we getting the 1.4.7 bugfix, or are we waiting for 1.5? Because waiting for 1.5 could be far too long to be acceptable. Mystcraft unpatched is quite buggy.

Well with PAX East this weekend I am going to give a high chance any patches for 1.4.7 won't happen for another two weeks. Then two to four weeks after we will see 1.5. I assume that since a solid majority of the team as well as modders are at PAX right now things will be discussed, or not and they all have a fun time at PAX. Either way things come when they come.

Also who is to say that the team or anyone hasn't been in contact with Elo. She may not be public with her updates but as far as we know she is contact with other modders and telling them what is going on. ^_^

What's the Mystcraft bug everyone's talking about?
In the version currently in Ultimate (which isn't the latest version available) new ages are generated wrong, but deleting the age and entering again fixes it (if I remember rightly. Haven't tried it yet myself.)

Also, there's a highly severe crashing issue that seems to be tied to the same bug.

It's Monday again. Surely there's been enough time to test it now? It's been out thirteen days...

And that PAX shindig is over too, right? (at least, that's what my latest email from thinkgeek said)

Ah, so not the annoying bit where generating new ages randomly deletes Thaumcraft aura nodes then.

Randomly deleting aura nodes is routinely a Thaumcraft problem (which is why he's seriously considering doing away with invisible non-block nodes in 3.1), though if there's a problem with Mystcraft triggering the bug, there's a chance the latest update may have improved the issue. Maybe.

It's been out 21 days now. Any news?
Have you considered creating a multimc instance and uploading it to a dropbox or something? I deal with this problem by using multimc. You can use FTB as the base and still use their base files. Your friends will just need to use multimc instead of the FTB launcher. This way you can maintain control over the mod pack and make it much easier for your friends to play. But even that I had to help some of my friends with by holding their hand through the process. In all honesty the real solution would be custom private mod packs but FTB seems to be reluctant to implement that feature.

It's already active. It was used for the beta version of the ultimate pack prior to it's release. o_O

It can't be used to create a better-maintained version of FTB, since the FTB team prevents certain mods (such as Redpower 2) from ever being added to those private mod packs, as those mod authors are uncommunicative or dead, and you need "permission" to download free stuff from the internet.

I think the "private mod pack" functionality he was referring to was something similar to the Technic launcher platform thingy. I haven't looked at it much, but it sounds more like what he was talking about.

Anyhow, back to Mystcraft: 21-day-old update. Not in FTB yet. Seems like we're waiting on 1.5 at this point, which means we'll be waiting a long time.
