This is just an honest question...

When are these new packs coming out?

It's getting really annoying that the FTB team is not updating constantly and consistently, even Mojang updates faster than this. These mod packs are just taking forever to come out and it's getting on my nerves.

So, may I please continuously be updated as to when this is to update!

In difference to the people at Mojang, the people at FTB and the modders supplying the mods are not getting payed for spending their day on it. In addition these volunteers are often working on much more advanced stuff on a larger scale. So how do you dare be so audacious to come and demand more frequent updates? These people are dedicating their spare time to make something for you. For FREE! Recently they have been forced to mostly rewrite their mods due to changes made by Mojang.
So if you don't like the pace, make it yourself. Else I really think you should come here to thank the people, instead of this.

To be honest and nice as possible I don't think you will get your answer. All I can say is they are being worked on at the pack creators own pace and time and not yours or anyone else. Be patient and wait. They will be done when they are done.

I fully agree with everything that rhn said. If you presented that kind of attitude to modders or modpack makers directly, you'd be laughed at at best, and banned/blacklisted/blocked from whatever social platform you used to communicate with them.

These people are doing what they're doing for free in what little free time they have. Most of them have full time jobs and other projects that they are also working on.

And let's also not forget that mods in 1.6.4 are still in a large state of flux, with updates to many of them happening weekly, if not daily, in ways that can potentially break worlds between updates. This makes it even harder to provide a stable modpack that guarantees updatability even with the same version of Minecraft.

And as a final point, 1.6.2? Really? o_O

Obviously the update process for all the mods after an update require nothing more that a couple of mouse clicks right?

Like they don't have to wait for certain mods like forge to be updated before they can even think about updating. And since mojang gives out their completed, bug free and finished code weeks before they release it the mowers have plenty of time to have everything done and ready hours after a MC update, right?
Along with that the FTB team can just throw all mods together and there are no conflicts whatsoever. And since all mod creaters have their mods ready for release instantly the FTB team never has to wait on a single mod that is going to be in packs to be finished.

We pay these people large sims of money so we can have this product as quickly as possible.

This just isn't right!!!!

In addition, MCP hasn't been updated yet. This is a tool used by the majority of programmers writing things like Forge and Bukkit, which cannot really be started until MCP is complete. The majority of Mod programmers use Forge and Bukkit and maybe other loaders I haven't heard of yet. Once those are complete the Modders can start. Right now all they can do is draw up their prospective future plans.

Once the Mods are ready launchers like FtB can assemble packs and test them for release.

To quote the punch line from a joke I heard a long time ago in a politically correct manner:

"Patience, Donkey, Patience."

It's not about the packs being updated anymore, it's about the launcher being updated.

Edit for clarification: The launcher needs to be released so that the new packs for 1.6 can run via FTB. Without the new launcher, 1.6 will not launch.

Yep. All the choosen mods exist at the 1.6 platform already and everybody is waiting on the launcher. Not going to lie, I wish it was here now but this thread won't go far. Besides, the poll was in poor form. It didn't include the option for Snakes on a Plane.
