So I've been playing around with magic crops so much lately, and it's got to the point where it is now my income of coal and redstone, I have yet to do the other crops, like ender pearls, iron... you get my drift, and I got wondering, what does other people's crop farms look like, so... Yeah, what does your farms look like (don't worry if your farm looks a mess anything looks and beats my income atm!!)

Nothing special, just 9 by 9 plots of tilled dirt with a water source block in the middle.
Beneath the water source block is my planter and a harvester by the border servicing the plot.
I build more 9 by 9 as needed.

here goes:

4 crops, 1 each of blaze, diamond, gold and iron. each is identical layout, surrounding a darkroom/cursed earth mob grinder in the middle.
A few people have noted that with magic crops, any form of automated farming yields only that crop types essence and seed drops, but none of the nature and weak essence drops. This one is automated, and it gets all drops.

In the back of each 9x8 crop, theres a row of dispensers with water buckets hooked up via rednet to a turtle running a simple floodgate control program. It acts like a button on the rednet wire, then sits for a few minutes to let the crops replant and grow, and repeat. Under each crop is 4 rows of lilypads of fertility, and all the dirt is fertilized dirt from random things. A planter takes care of the planting, and hoppers collect the drops when the water pops all the plants. The hoppers feed into a basic chest, then a bc wooden pipe + autarchic gate pulls the items, seeds get sorted out in a diamond pipe and sent back to the planter, everything else goes into an ender chest. ender chests are plugged into an AE system that automaticaly crafts the essence into their proper items.

Had this running for a few hours now and already looking at a few stacks of iron, gold, blaze rods and diamonds, and quite a bit of nature essence (somewhere close to 1k of it). Shortly I'll add more crops, I want to try making this autocraft lilypads of fertitlity and fertilized dirt, and I'm collecting mob essence from the grinder to eventually feed a mfr block breaker with fortune 3 when I start growing ores that need a fortune pick. I'm also playing with ExtraCells and the fluid components it adds to AE...im using it to store liquid mob essence and sludge, looking forward to what else I can do with it.

just added 2 more farms to that last setup, and added some thaum to the mix, sending herba via mirrors to lamps around those jackolanterns. i can almost halve the time the turtle takes to open the floodgates now ;)

also added a jungle tree farm to get vines and charcoal for the herba production. good times ;)

I use rotary craft sprinklers and a MFR harvester. I'd use fans but they don't work on magic crops at the moment.

thats why im using the dispensers...so far its the only way i know of to automate magic crops and get all the drops youd get as if you had done it manually

and found another 'feature' of magic crops....they grow much faster when they have a clear view of the sky...stacking crops like i did in my setup hurt the speed of the bottom tier crops, even with all the growth mods and lighting. gonna have fun laying all that out again. le sigh.

something to note with my design: waiting for the planters to restock and plant after the last flood sucks. solution: keep it stocked with 2x the seeds you need to replant the whole field. they replant immediately after the water goes down and cuts the floodgate time cycle down quite a bit. right now the water on/off cycle is 12 seconds (time it takes to flood and push items down to the hoppers), and time to regrow crop is down to about 1-2 minutes. speed mods are fertilized dirt, lilypads of fertility and lamps of growth.

behind each farm is a circuit that controls the floodgate timing. wireless receiver -> not gate -> timer (90 seconds) -> repeater (8 ticks) -> branch to buffer to the dispensers -> state cell (set to 13 second delay) -> repeater (8 ticks) -> to dispensers.

all project red components. an AE system monitors how much of each type of essence i have, once it drops below a certain level an emitter turns on, which powers the transmitter next to it, which triggers the circuit above. same layout as my previous crops, theres rows of lilypads underneath the dirt, fertilized dirt and lamps of growth speed the crops up.

i also have a jungle tree farm generating vines for conversion to herba to feed the lamps, and wood is converted to alumentum via thaumcraft furnaces and a mystical construct. everything that needs rf power gets it from a squid tank feeding ink sacs to a bioreactor (also gets excess saplings from the tree farm), which feeds 3 bio generators to keep a redstone energy cell topped up.
