as titled said im curios because on my about 8 person active direwolf20 server with some added mods on top of it. im very strict on people doing pointless tick inducing stuff. like I want to power my base with 200 windmills...No bad person make a single "big reactor" instead

i get countered saying but blue i been on servers where i done this and there's like 40 people on it and we all do this stuff on it and its all ok

one i don't believe them

but im wondering are there really that large modded servers out there? i got 8gig server and my players of 8 can make tick rate lag happen with that many people just randomly running around as they explore loading new chunks now imagine you got 15 people doing that on top of all the players chunk loaded bases running all there automated stuff[DOUBLEPOST=1397523862][/DOUBLEPOST]added note
im a believer in doing things the least tick rate inducing as possible its like trying to explain to a brick wall once the TPS drops because oop you placed 200 windmills (mek) when the server gets under heavy load errors can happen and i try to explain once that error happens then another it can just compound and removing the windmills later will not fix the issue.... the errors are now saved in the world file and things just get more corrupt over time

this is my theory any ways

Holy shit man, its the internet, but you should still try some proper punctuation and capitalization. That's difficult to read.

You don't need to be strict about tick lag inducing stuff unless your already experiencing it and it can't be fixed. Your server is fairly small so tick lag shouldn't be much of a problem. Running your server on an overpopulated GSP or VPS will cause issues. Chunk loading and generation can cause tick lag if your processor is particularly weak or your using a slow storage method. A good hard drive or solid state drive will help here.

The bigger servers you see are probably running on pretty powerful hardware and use some tricks like spreading players across multiple dimensions which if setup properly can spread the load across multiple cores. Like I mentioned, stick to dedicated hardware for real performance.

As for your theory on chunk corruption, that's complete bullshit. A low tick rate will not cause any errors at all, the entire world is uniform and single threaded. At worst, the cause of chunk corruption might also slow the server down. Chunk corruption is also hardly a problem. You should be keeping world backups regardless of any known bugs or what modpack you play.

I do keep world back ups often. and i agree i try to explain to my friends that those servers run on more serios hardware also.

eh poeple just want to build what they want or run around for hours in twilight forest and never care how it effects others who are trying to play also

Alas building like crazy and exploring are what Minecraft is all about :)

If your system is starting a choke, consider removing mods or blocks that are particular offenders.
