Hey!

I've been a long time quiet user of Feed The Beast but I've always kept an eye on the forums and website :)

I've run into a "problem" however. With the new 1.7 mod packs, I wonder what exactly is new / different from the old 1.6.
Asking mainly because my mates and I have migrated to Yogscast Complete in the recent month to get a slightly different experience which makes me curious regarding the updates.

It's hard to make an argument as to why we should migrate once more when I'm clueless !

Thanks before-hand.

PS:
I believe we used the "Ultimate" pack? Whichever was the biggest one, unleashed etc.

For 1.7?

You have a few choices here.

There's the Direwolf20 pack, Ressurection - Which has GT and lesser mods, as well as the latest kitchen sink pack - Infinity.

The main differences are:

1). Minecraft v-1.7 as opposed to v-1.6
2). Many mods were not updated to 1.7
3). Many mods that were updated to 1.7 are quite different now and won't run on 1.6
4). A lot of new mods exist now with no equivalent in 1.6
5). A new mod, "Hard Quest Mod" (HQM) now exists to give an achievement based structure and reward system to packs

One thing about 1.7... Just as it looked like they had things in hand they (re)introduced a bug that causes some lag spiking in 1.7.10. This seems to have been fixed in 1.8 but with the sweeping changes made since 1.6 the development time for the forge people has increased dramatically and 1.8 Packs are still a ways away, although som mods are starting to appear.

So 1.7, I assume Resurrection is the "Ultimate" equivalent, is basically just new mods all together?
It sounds interesting but there was a lot of mods dear to us in the old Ultimate pack (1.6) so I'm not so sure :eek: - There doesn't happen to be a page which lets you compare the two packs?

Also is Minecraft 1.7 that much different to 1.6? I don't play enough MC to really know the differences between these things sorry :)

Edit:
Sorry, we didn't use Ultimate we used Monster and Unleashed. My mistake :(
Which one of the 1.7 packs would be the "big" one?

There's absolutely nothing "new" about 1.7 because it's now old as hell. I forget what 1.7 has over 1.6, it's been way too long.

Infinity would be the "big" one now I supposed. It is the everything-and-the-kitchen-sink-except-GregTech-which-is-in-Resurrection pack.

So IMO,

Want GT? -> Resurrection
Don't want GT? -> Infinity

"Resurrection" would be the new "Unhinged"

-and-

"Infinity" would be the new "Unleashed"

"Monster", IIRC was a collection of lesser known packs similar to "Unstable"

to use inadequate comparisons.

Of course, DW20 1.7 pack would be the updated old DW20 :D
