What is this block?

I was mining and I came across some glowstone, I haven't been to Nether so it was world gen, and when I mined the glowstone on the inside there was this ore. What is it, what is it used for, and what do I need to mine it?

its a bee hive. i don't know of what type.

I think it may in fact be a bee hive from magic bees, try using a scoop on it.

If I recall correctly (and it wasn't just rumors), rarely some of the nether bees will spawn deep underground like that, encased in glowstone. It's to ensure that even if your Nether gets mined out, you can still get the bees. Supposedly you can find Ender bees in the same way (encased in end stone) -- again, extremely rarely.

You can enable Tooltips in the NEI options to find out what hive it is, though.

Okay thanks, I was thinking it could bee a hive (get it?) but I wasn't sure, do you know what mode adds it? Is it Magic Bees?

Well, either it's some wierd thing with a very very low chance to happen or it's an ID conflict that's happening for some weird reason. As for what block it is, it's one of the beehives from Magic Bees. Pick it up with a scooop.

That is in fact an Infernal hive from Magic Bees. That and the Oblivion Hive can spawn underground in certain biomes. Grab it

Harvest it with a scoop to get bees just like with every other hive.

some of the bees make mudane combs, which can make magic wax, which makes magic capsules for 2 buckets. other wax capsules (refractory) can hold lava. only one bucket though
theres also void capsules (8 buckets)
and barrels (10)
dunno how to get the latter two however.

No they hold 1, but they, unlike wax capsules, can hold things like lava, basically like an iron capsule. You use the refractory wax for this.
