You mean more tedious? I thought it's already established that tedious is the right adjective to describe mods that don't give you everything in the first 30 minutes of gameplay :)

And here we have a fine attempt at 'being funny', perhaps. Unfortunately, success was not found.

Also PROTIP: People have different0 (better?) opinions on game difficulty. Build a bridge and get over it.

Does anybody know the parameters for causing the degenrative genes in the bee?
I.e. at what mutation multiplier does this start to happen

and also do we know what overworking the bees actually means?
is it just production rates, or is it also lifespan?

not having a huge mutation bonus I can deal with, but it's irritating trying to mutate bees and having to wait a full lifespan to see the outcome

.-.

From my experience (I don't know the exact data on this), chocolate frames do not cause degenerative bees, but mutation chance does. From my experience 1 Mutator is completely safe.

A good tactic is also to let the bees degenerate and just get their species serum before they die, most degenerate bees will survive for a good 8 generations atleast.

I *think* its either 10x or 16x increase. As long as you use less than 4 frames you should be fine.

Its only production rate, never had an issue with lifespan altering frames

now, that you`ve mention it... from what i can remember from discussion about this feature:
16x is a safe border for production boost i.e. 4 frames with 100% boost each.
10x is a safe border for mutation boost i.e. 1 mutator with uranium.
anything that`s lower is safe, anything above has a chance to turn princess into a swarmer.

As I remember it one uranium was x500, but the info on this is hard to find & may well have been updated, the pace mods update, its hard to keep track of all the main points never mind the finer points.

it was nether star. the math behind it is somewhat like that: 2%(lowest mutation chance)*500=100%

I wish either Sengir or Binnie somehow added an exception for nether stars in the mutator. I mean, it's technically one of the hardest non-GT items to get and it gives such an amazing boost, so it should at least not mess with the resulting bees.

By the way (or perhaps being a bit off-topic), for some reason, chocolate frames don't seem to lower the lifespan of bees anymore (most likely a bug). This means the best ways to make bees die faster are either oblivion frames (extremely rare, unless you have Dartcraft or other mods that generate lots of dungeon loot) or necrotic frames, both from Magic Bees, which don't consume vis any more ever since 2.0. Also, as of 2.10, you can make them even without Thaumcraft, but the recipes are kind of absurd. Especially the one for oblivion frames.
