Playing on a server, i can't cheat.

When I used to play single-player vanilla MC, I used to save just before doing an enchant. That way, if I get a bad enchant, I just load the previous save and try again. I wouldn't do that now, but only because I know how to use MFR auto-enchant to just make a bunch of books ahead of time.

When I start a new world, i cheat myself in stone tools. All you do with wood tools is use them like 3 times then either dump them, or burn them as fuel in a furnace. I play on peaceful, so I also cheat in a Peaceful table from Extra Utilities and a chest for it, then put in a sword of some kind for mob drops. Other then that I refrain from cheating greatly, only doing it when I get jipped/its "light" cheating (ex: spawning in ONE lapis to claim a barrel).

Cheating is when a) there's an actual competition with established rules or b) you make an awesome build and say it was "100% survival!" when it wasn't.
If I cheat too much, I get bored of a world and delete it.
If I cheat too little, I get bored of a world and delete it.
If I cheat as much as anything in between too much and too little, I feel the need to either cheat or to not cheat, which drives me into getting bored of a world and deleting it.
So the only way to not get bored is not to play?

The first thing I do in a world, is chop down a tree, make a crafting table, then a wood pickaxe. Then I dig until i have 6 cobble and make a stone axe and stone pickaxe. Your method would save me less than a minute. What's the point?

In my opinion if someone cheats on a hardcore world so they can live in it, that's fine. They worked hard for that world. If someone cheats on their SP map, it's fine. But when it gets to SMP, that's where it's just plain stupid. It kind of ruins it for everyone else.

Pretty much.

I'm not very interested in Minecraft actually, I just like to talk about it. I haven't played FTB for about a month. That may be part of the reason why I have trouble not boring myself to death on a world.

Also, on my attempt at a 100% legitimate world, I ended up spawning in an automagicamatic jukebox as well as a record because I didn't have anything else to do.

When I started I gave myself stone tools (the pickaxe was iron so I could mine almost all the ores) with efficiency 10, fortune 10, unbreaking 10, repair 10, sharpness 10, fire 10, punch 10, power 10... you get the point.

I also spawned in a Mystcraft writing desk, a book binder, and a link modifier, as well as a creative notebook, a regular notebook (for assembling ages), and six stacks of ink bottles (five of which I put in a hopper above the book binder).

Nothing is wrong. It's a matter of perspective on how other people play that can make the other person seem like they're cheating.

Also, if I cheated any more than I already did I would get bored and I would delete that world. If I cheated any less I would also get bored and delete the world.

Ok.
I cheated I used the Soulshard Cheat to get my Xp farms up and running. I did have to go find a number of Dungeons and smack those Zombie and Skelly spawners though.
that has to count for something! o_O

1. If I'm fooling around with mystcraft, and I misclick something, and end up in another dimension with only time-consuming and/or potentially game-ending means of returning to the overworld, then yes, I'll tp myself back.
2. chunk loaders. Spot loaders, specifically. I wouldn't say it "breaks immersion" or nonsense like that, to craft chunk loaders, so much as it's off-putting to me to have to craft something to prevent something as technical as a chunk or chunks unloading.
3. If I'm, say, playing the apparently final version of the Ultimate pack for 1.4.7 and the recipe for the distillation tower is literally broken with little hope of being patched, then I'd gather the resources and give myself one. That seemed specific.
4. If I'm killed by a pack of zombies due to my own stupidity, and one picks up my miner's backpack and then bloody despawns or otherwise dematerializes well before any of the other items do, then I'll give myself an approximate amount of stuff back. Ok, that was a little specific too.

No, he's right, if you're this bored then what you think you need to have fun isn't in line with what gives fun.

Try server play!

The only thing I wish could be fixed by cheating is chunk resets. happened thrice in my base already. I ended up rage quitting.

I consider using the anvil for things that it isn't meant for is cheating. Like combining soul shards or adding enchants to items not supposed to be enchantable. The prior I do not do myself but I know people have done that on my server. I asked the server owner about the latter and he's fine with that so I'm doing that but so far only eff V chainsaw and prot III adv nano.

I personally disagree. If they wanted to ban enchanting chainsaws, they would have banned enchanting chainsaws. They didn't. So how is that cheating?

If I have incurred loss due to poor diligence, aka creeper spawning in your house, then cheating is not Ok for me. However if you are new to the modpack and you decided to pickaxe a GT machine or any IC2 machine because it wasn't reacting to a wrench. Well......

Even if the mod authors disagree, I personally don't consider enchanting rechargeable tools and armor as cheating. I don't see how they are different to other tools and armor. Yes, they never break, but this advantage comes at a cost in the form of power, which balances things pretty well in my opinion. So if I can enchant a diamond pickaxe with fortune, why shouldn't I be able to do the same with a drill? That's just silly.

To answer the question of the thread: If any of my items get destroyed due to mechanics I find ridiculous (such as the IC2 wrench) then I will give them back to myself. If a creeper blows up something expensive, (even though it doesn't really happen very often as I have a bit of an obsession with spamming torches everywhere) then I will cheat that back in. If I die due to a glitch or due to the game lagging, I will cheat my inventory back in also.

Generally, the only circumstances under which I will "cheat" are when something happens that falls under my definition of 'unfair' (which sometimes might be affected by mood or emotional state).

But 'cheating' is entirely subjective and everyone should be free to play the game however they want. It is called a "game" after all, not a second job.

I'm talking about Singleplayer, or maaaaaybe a small server with your close friends.

Because we're really going to cheat if our friends don't want us to...

I cheat when stupid things happen. Like when IC2 happens, I replace the stuff that exploded. Or I'll cheat in things like minium stones and ender pearls, because I play on Peaceful. I used to cheat back everything, back when you couldn't turn off creepers griefing. Because that's just stupid and there's nothing you can do about it.

I guess that's the good thing about being on a server. The other day, a creeper blew up an ultimate hybrid and 4 hybrids. That's 96 iridium! Yet I never even for 1 nanosecond thought of cheating them back in--because I couldn't. Though, even if I could cheat them in, I probably wouldn't have.

The server I'm is actually an offshoot of another server where the guys I'm with now quit because the admin of the previous server would cheat things in when it suited him.
