I just crashed the server I play on...:(

Instead of tunneling into the earth, or burrowing out the side of a mountain, or even confiscating a village, I decided I'd build my home at sea, at around level 140... The map has been up for quite a bit now, and I've diligently been working away; expanding... Currently it's probably 200 x 400 x 60(with gaps of course).

Anyways, a few weeks ago I got this crazy idea: instead of having the usual -insert common building block here- for walls, I decided I wanted walls of water... and I wanted to be able to toggle those walls to stop the water fall.

First in line I built a huge basin under my floating building to catch the water. Got the walls and pistons setup, ran a couple of test patches for leaks and figured all was well.... I was wrong. I forgot to put glass in most of the catch basins.

...I remembered this about 10seconds after I flipped the switch; right before I realized I'd washed some crucial redstoning away as well, and about 60seconds before I lagged out and can't log back in.

Soooooooo, what's everyone doing tonight...

I crash every time I try to break a turtle with a thaumcraft pick. Or die. Or climb a ladder. Or use a TC workbench.
(seriously)

You could have used dispensers/deployers to get the water out, just saying.

And I'm sure the admin will have a backup or be able to mcedit your home away :p

Are you using the electric jetpack? It causes ALOT of game crashes. On the server I play on we have a "Do Not Use" rule in place for it because of that.

I can honestly say in all my extensive time playing with some variant of IC, I have never had a single crash related to either Jetpack model. In fact, the only issue I've had with them is back when they were first added, they calculated falling damage based on the total height changed rather than on momentum, so flying from Y 100 to Y 45 would kill you instantly, no matter what speed you landed at. Needless to say, jetpacks weren't very useful then. :p

Yeah, same here, the only time I crashed with a jetpack on was when I was in a mystcraft age. Turned out the meteors made the client crash every time for some reason.

I had broke the lava blade circuit on my chicken farm and let a batch of baby chickens out. I was planning on letting them grow & killing them manually for a chicken soul shard. Left that section of my base chunkloaded and went back to working on my spaceship/thaumcrafting/other things. That was Friday... I had forgotten about the signal that would trigger the dispensers again when they are full... Hadn't gone back to my main base and forgot about the chicken thing all weekend.

I couldn't figure out why the game was so laggy last night and this morning until I went to check on my biofuel production and the chicken clucking was insane. It was so bad I couldn't even swing my sword. Eggs were being produced faster than my 3 dispensers could shoot them out!! Fighting severe lag it took me over an hour of logging off, stopping & restarting the server and back to get back up the stairs, turn on the lava blade, wait for 9+ stacks of chicken meat & even more feathers to collect in my inventory (magnet mode FTW there). Finally the lag was gone!!

Not as bad as what happened to you, but goes to show we all make derp mistakes at times :)

Jetpacks and gravisuits are extremely laggy items... anything that makes you fly tbh... so creative flying is included in that too... always has been and unless some new way of optimizing is found, always will be.
