Industrial TNT is also a good way. It has a higher drop chance than normal TNT, making it useful for TNT mining ores.
Just to be clear ITNT drops everything it blows up. Same with dynamite.

Too bad, it's probably the least-used method...
Well...do people actually use UU to make stone?
It's cool you got that matterfab running...No, because there's literally no reason to.
Using UU to make pretty much anything has 0 cool-factor because it's UU, and besides that it's also an extremely dumb way to make stone.
Well, it's obvious to use the igneous extruder, everybody knows that.I don't see why people would want to use anything other than an igneous extruder to make stone.
It'd be like trying to pry open a can with a rock when you've got a perfectly good can opener (that's only purpose is to do the one thing that you're trying to find some outlandish alternative for) sitting right next to you.
Especially when it's a can of something extremely bland and unimportant. Leave the creativity to something that matters.

Minium stones, quarrying, cobblestone generators of several types, wands of equal trade, and UU-Matter are simply more creative ways. Or else this thread would have two posts, and maybe a few more on the argument of making stone, using wrathfire, or smelting cobblestone.
Guys, guys.
Silk touch in an arcane bore.
Be sure to fire it at high altitude so you don't pick up too many unwanted ores and stuff.
Can't believe no one suggested the vibration catalyst from Applied Energistics.
OP needs the stone for making Stone Bricks, BTW. As badass as it is, you end up having to mine it anyway(and without a silk touch tool, it turns into cobblestone). Can't believe no one suggested the vibration catalyst from Applied Energistics.
I still think wasting millions of EU is more creative than the Igneous ExtruderThe only way that I'd call genuinely creative would be the wrath igniter. (Maybe the EE method. Maybe.) Everything else is kind of... eh. I certainly wouldn't call it creativity since it's basically just skimming through NEI.
On the whole, it's simply a list of least practical to most practical, with Igneous Extruders and Quarries being on top, and UU matter by far being the least practical method. Trust me, I wouldn't feel any more creative if I generated a stack of stone by wasting millions upon millions of EU in the process as opposed to just tossing cobble into a furnace.

There's having creeper soul shards and... aggravating them
Now THAT'S creative! It's about as creative as me giving myself a root canal instead of going to the dentist.
Eh, I disagree. Creativity can be doing whatever people think it is.it's dumb.
Superheat Mining Laser on smoothstone will drop smoothstone, by the way- as smoothstone can't be smelted into another block directly, the laser will instead break it, then try to smelt the cobblestone drop. It's faster than pickaxing the stone and cooking the cobble, but probably less efficient.OP needs the stone for making Stone Bricks, BTW. As badass as it is, you end up having to mine it anyway(and without a silk touch tool, it turns into cobblestone).
If we only needed the stone in place I'd suggest a Mining Laser in Super Heat mode. Or Furnace Touch from Ars Magicka.
