Actually, it wouldn't matter that much, if at all. My system was, in fact, total overkill as-is; the crops are growing in a maximum of 2 ticks, more often than not 1. It's really the collection and planting that are the two roadblocks from my brief experience.

Or I could just add 30 more Time Torches and enable them to work on machines. That would work too.
Yes, but we can get it down to 1 Tick Max. Doesn't that sound great?

If your modpack has Ars Magica, make a lead, and lead a dryad near your garden and fence her in. She will randomly force-tick plants near her. I don't know never tried this.

A maximum of 2 ticks, more often than not 1 isn't as fast as 1:) More harvesters will help...

My current magical crops farm currently uses:
Fertilised dirt,
Lilypads of fertility,
Lamps of growth,
An RoC ground sprinkler.

And for good measure I regularly wander through it with my Sigil of the Green Grove active, but that's just a stopgap until I get the ritual of the same name set up underneath it. :)

Look behind you
Well, considering it allows you to basically grow diamonds, coal, and a whole heap of other stuff, it would be epic.

I guess you could make some normal farms such as wheat or carrots to make power from biofuel, culinary generators or such, and then just make fuck tonnes of resources from the magical crops.

Yeah, this is the monstrosity I described. Timed it for 5 minutes (used wheat) and it collected 6115 Wheat and 9757 Seeds. The limitation was actually on how fast I could collect the crops, because they grew instantly. FYI, those are Technomancy Creative Jars on the roof.

EDIT: Just tested this setup on melons and replaced Harvesters with ME Transition Planes, which break blocks one a tick (effectively making this the fastest harvesting possible). It collected 494K melon slices in 5 minutes.
Oh no... you can do better... The lilypads work up to 4 tile above them according to the wiki. So you can build an artificial lake full of them underneath your farm patch.

Did you guys actually forgot about the sprinkler?

Which one?

I use the RoC one but the openblocks one works via the bonemeal mechanic and so it won't work on magical crops (which can't be bonemeal'd) or netherwort (as far as I know)

9x9 crop field with 4 MFR Harvesters.

The ratio of cropland to harvesters alone in this setup is all it takes to catch my eye. Jebus.

That must be interesting to watch.[DOUBLEPOST=1403794603][/DOUBLEPOST]

I can't tell if you already know this, but fwiw, the RoC one bonemeals magical crops properly.

hrm, interesting. Not sure how that works, given that bonemeal is meant to have no effect. *scratches chin*

On another note, I think i'm going to need to change my farm setup. I currently have my lilypads of abuseability under the farmland (with the lamp of growth above and harvesters round the outside). Apparently ritual of the green grove affects plants above it, so I think i might have to move the lilies. :/

It looks like Reika's not bothering with the actual bonemeal mechanic: the bonemeal is consumed as fuel, and he increments the growth of plants. In other words, he's not really "bonemealing" so much as using bonemeal as a fuel to rapid-grow plants. If you get the distinction.

A minorly interesting fact from the wiki. Lilypads of holyshitthat'shilarious actually have an effect up to 4 blocks above them.

So I can just move their pond down a block and slip the ritual stones in directly below the farmland for fun and giggles.

It also means the cabling for the planters is no longer in the way :)

PS. Redstone control for the rituals? Yes please :D
PPS. Anyone know if master ritual stones will accept redstone signal from an enderIO conduit thingy? It's my goto solution for wiring in tight spaces.
PPPS. What is the horizontal range on the ritual? Is it only active above the 3x3 footprint of the ritual stones? If so, i'll need a few more of the bloody things :p

Update:
EnderIO redstone conduits between a block with a lever and each of my master ritual stones apparently won't deactivate the rituals. Is that a mod incompatability or something about it being a persistant signal rather than a timer?

Also the wiki says each should use 20LP/s. Try more like 500 if the numbers my divination sigil was showing were correct.
