Hello,

I have a survivor server with my friends, running a configuration similar to the ultimate pack(beta). We set up 3 ultimate solar panels which runs everything we need for our base so far, but we decided to start doing nuclear reactors for fun and to power a single matter fabricator.

I was wondering if there is any way to get uranium other than mining. It seems the near-depleted cells are chance based, so will I eventually run out of uranium if I don't mine it?

Unfortunately yes AFAIK, the only way to get uranium ore is by mining it. I recommend you silk touch the ore for double yield, and use either a pulverizer or (even better) an industrial grinder for some extra plutonium on the side.

If there is Extra Bees on the server, then it is also possible to get uranium through bee breeding.

However, breeder reactors is probably easier to set up when you work out the mechanics.

Uranium is meant to be non-renewable.

However, if you happen to have Extra Bees installed, one of the bees you can breed will produce uranium (albeit very slowly).

EDIT: curses, foiled again!

If you get them good traits, and put them in an Alveary that's almost completly made of frame blocks filled with proven frames, they actually make enough.

On bee breeding i thought it was 30 minutes in an alverary? As long as it is faster than 2 hrs 17 mins? (10k seconds) per uranium per queen you can make at least 100 EU/t per uranium ingot. Someone did some math with gregtech you could stretch it out to something crazy like 90m EU per ingot (centrifuge for thorium + plutonium).

Even without gregtech you can stretch uranium to 10m+ EU per ingot. Convert the 1 uranium to 8 depleted cells - recharge - run in power reactor.

Once you get into breeding -- both bees and your fuel -- you can scale out the production to more queens and you should have way more uranium fuel than you need.

The database says once every 30.6 minutes, which means in an alveary at default stats for that breed.

That breed is "Slowest", which means a if you got a "Normal" trait on the bee, production would be 2.5 faster and a Fast bee (fastest available without Thaumic) is 3 times faster. Getting Fastest from an Aura bee is 4 times as fast. Plus you can now put frames in Alvearies.

Yes, good point. I just made my second reactor which is a breeder and I will create the depleted cells instead, to re-enrich it. If I use the bees which make uranium, I can probably run the 3 reactors I plan to build.
