Personally I hope IC2-exp goes to only the gregtech pack just to save me the trouble of disabling it.
Highly unlikely due to the situation that the old IC2 is being abandoned as a result of Alblaka went missing and the maintainers are moving on with new ideas in IC2-experimental. I am not sure the old classic IC2 is even being updated to 1.6 or beyond at this point. I haven't followed closely so someone else will need to confirm or deny these specifics.

Thanks for the status, Jadedcat. I'm really looking forward to getting started on my long-term 1.6 server.

nothing bad but I got fed up waiting so have moved to using the AT launcher for 1.6 mods. there's heaps of mods moved to 1.6 now, FTB is still lagging behind for what ever reason, I'm not overly fussed what that reason is, as I'll just check FTB at some point and if it updates fine but otherwise not fussed as I'll just use At launcher for 1.6 mods for now.

the 1 problem with ATLauncher is you can't always add some extra mods for what ever reason NEI complains about the item numbers and won't let minecraft start up so I add some and if they don't work I just drop them

I have tried ATLauncher, several modpacks and all. Here is the difference between ATLauncher and FTB. FTB takes time, goes through tremendous amount of work not only to look good and simple at launcher but also make all the mods in mod packs get along with each other BEFORE sending it out. ATLauncher like many game developers out there, the slap together the mods into mod packs, few hasty fixes in config and ID and blam they sent it out. I have tried one of the mod pack, almost daily basis there were new patches and fixes that some old world became dangerous to use.

ATLauncher also restrict on certain thing such as certain mods cannot be removed while few are optional. Where as in FTB, almost everything can be removed, updated or added without restriction. Ultimatly, I deleted ATLauncher and just going to wait for FTB 1.6.x

Yes I am one of those who is impatient and want the DW20 1.6 now, but after 16 years of beta testing games for many companies along with several years 3rd Party QA for SOE, trust me, the wait is well worth it. Yes it is true that the more people play with modpack tend to find bugs and glitches faster than just a dozen modders, but lets be honest...how many players out there really going to report a bug in full details without raging, whining, complaining, cursing, etc? Might as well make the players wait a little longer for FTB get "quality" product out than opening the "whining - its borked" flood gate on forums.

I personally wished I knew how to program anything, even a freaking mining turtle, let alone javascript. But I also see from their point of view (the modders and FTB team) its a freaking nightmare. My full respect for them and thanks for their hard work during "free" time they have. While we wait for new FTB launcher/mod packs... lets entertain ourselves with other games, or maybe good time to learn how to setup your own modpack and coding ;)

PS: I avoid Tekkit after the last fallout a while back.

AT Launcher (I'm using RR) seem to be the exact opposite of FTB. Basically daily updates and dev versions of mods all over the place, old versions removed from the launcher quickly, etc.

Both approaches have their merits as I see it. A month or so ago I would say that RR was unusable for anything other than testing a few setups in creative, but things have changed. It's still not "stable" (or claim to be), which is important to realize for would be users. It's not Blizzard product beta testing, it's real beta testing.

There have been 2 or 3 updates put out this week via my twitter and the FTB_Team twitter.... and people still don't feel they get enough updates. This is because many people griping about updated info actually just want an exact day for release. But if we give that and something happens then we get yelled at by the users. I can't tell you what happened in the 4 months I was gone. I wasn't here. You'd have to ask Wyld since he was in charge of the mod packs and updates to them during that time.

In the last month we have added a few new members to each team, launcher, mod pack and testing.

We certainly don't blame anyone who feels like using a different launcher. Thats part of why we can take a bit of time to get the packs stable. We don't put out packs that are made with whatever mods happen to be hanging around. We try to make the packs fairly cohesive and test them for cross mod bugs. Obviously we will miss some bugs. One of our test packs for example was just fine until a cross mod issue started crashing the testers every time they went to and from the nether. No one wants a server going down every time someone wants some blaze rods. The list of cross mod bugs that have been squashed in the last 2 weeks alone is pages long. Some are tiny and probably wouldn't have mattered but some of them would have corrupted your worlds and destroyed your servers. Once we get a couple packs to fairly stable we'll release the public betas. And then y'all will get to find the bugs we missed :p . We are introducing some new packs and some old favorites are coming back with new looks. But with using new mods we have new bugs and cross mod interactions to consider.

Thank you all for your patience.

It's hard to have legitimate complaints about the lack of recent updates. Thank you very much Jadaed and the whole FTB team. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I have probably missed this information elsewhere, sorry in that case, but maybe a list of relevant twitter accounts could be added to the news page?

Hey Jaded? If they don't read it themselves, from myself, and I'm certain all of those here. Thanks for your patience as well. I for one know it gets frazzling moderating forums, plus your own projects, and you do an excellent job. So part of my thanks this year is for you.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And may your day be filled with good food, good friends, good family, and maybe a few diamonds and emeralds. ^..^/

Sincerely, Griff. ;)
