See my second edit. This appears to be an old version bug.

Just a reminder, because I'm sure mods will be in here soon, please keep it civil. I'm posting this because it is mod news, although I know it's going to cause some strife, but let's keep personal attacks out of it.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1659892-164tinkers-construct/page__st__7400#entry27115000

And the GregTech drama continues. So glad I dropped this mod around 1.5 anyway. I can't think of another mod that intentionally breaks compatability with other mods like this. Does anyone have links to more info on this? I'm really not in the mood to dig through the GregTech megathread on the IC2 forums.

Edit: This may be because of outdated version. http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&postID=142167#post142167
However, mDiyo's post here (http://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeas...ou_wont_be_able_to_use_tconstruct_and/ce5g99w) states it's "all metallurgy dusts and Project Red rubies", so I don't know what to think. I guess we'll just have to see how it hashes out.

Edit 2: Tested it myself and responded to mDiyo on reddit. "I just edited a minimal version of Horizons with added GregTech (latest version) and IC2 (build 332), along with Metallurgy, Tinker's Construct, ExtraTiC, and NEI, and I wasn't able to reproduce the changing into scrap. While I'm no fan of Greg, it appears you are actually in the wrong here, and this was a glitch with an old version."

Still surprised how people add two conversion mods at once and expect it to work... Making them not load together anymore in 1.7 is honestly the best course of action for everyone.

I can definitely see calling GregTech a conversion (he has himself), but Tinker's Construct is completely optional and doesn't affect anything unless you're playing with the additional Iguana Tweaks mod. You should still be able to make regular tools, and no recipes should be affected.

It's a non-issue caused by using a version of GT that's 20 (or more at this point) versions out of date. If you want a fix, update GT. If you want drama, by all means continue.

I went ahead and tested it out myself since I wanted to find out the truth. You're right, it is fixed with the latest versions. I've updated the OP to reflect that. We can still fight about GregTech if you want though. :)

but even if updating GT would then still cause more issues... LOL in the never ending cycle of despair and masochism

Nah, nothing really to fight over. I've had a lot of fun with GT in the past, but I'm waiting on IC2-EX to get to a much more done/functional state before using IC2-EX and anything that depends on it (such as GT) in a long term world.

I like how people call greg immature when MDiyo does this stuff

Except not crashing the game and instead telling people that the mods cannot be expected to work together is the reasonable option, not crashing the game and acting like a pretentious git. Pointing out why there is incompatibility should probably be less preachy, however

Anyone remember the day when Mdiyo added something that broke Worlds on gregtech by removing recipes and all? Making AE systems clog up and all that stuff. <- i also wrote that
And the first thing on that screen: Look at the mod thread if you are confused. There, done. Thats common sence to do about a mod you dont know. Not like ''Herpa derp we do not expect that its bad herpaderp''

NO, we do not need to be told what not to play by Devs who have inflated egos. The only reason there have ever been problems between the two mods has been because the two devs have purposely caused them. This time its all Mdiyo.

I'm not sure what's more saddening: the fact that mDiyo put that there or the fact that it's accurate information.

I'm getting awful tired of this stupid drama. Can't mod authors just politely say that they won't provide tech support if X mod is installed and move on (y'know, like with Optifine)?

I'm with this guy

Marc Watson is now my hero. Look, I've had both TiCo and Gregtech installed together for almost a year now. I've yet to encounter a SINGLE issue that wasn't caused by one developer deciding that "Well shoot, I don't like that guy, time to break everyone's game!"

In the end, I want to play Minecraft. I payed for the game, I click the stupid ad.fly links, I report bugs/help where I can. I do my part. I'm respectful where I'm able to be. What I'm trying to say here is that I don't deserve months of my hard work being ruined because, two people can't get along.

I decide how I wish to play Minecraft, I decide what to install and, what not to install. If you're intentionally coding incompatibility into your mod based solely upon the fact that you do not like someone then, you're being a dick.
