Yes, Bio-reactor.

Better to throw some carrots, netherwart, coccoa beans and any other easy farmables you have on hand to get more biofuel per item.

So in order to make any decent amount of biomass from potatoes I need to have 4-5 other items in that bioreactor? Bah... I should have just made a wheat farm.

By themselves, each potato makes 0.08 buckets of biofuel in a reactor. Thus number goes up to 0.16 buckets in quantities of 9 unique items.

Wheat in a fermenter makes 0.05 of biomass and requires power, water, and compost/mulch to do so. Then it converts 1 bucket of biomass to 0.3 buckets of ethanol, requiring more power to do so. So 0.015 buckets of ethanol per wheat.

But yeah, if you think you can get the same output from wheat, go right ahead.

So it takes around 12 and a half potatoes to make 1 bucket biofuel? Okay, things just got interesting. Thanks, DoctorOr.

A potato farm is definitely good enough to keep things running

For clarification of the above about biomass efficiency, basically it's this
Every item produces 80mb of biomass (0.08 Buckets) if it's processed by itself, but for every additional item that is processed alongside it, each item then produces another 10mb of biomass. You can process up to 9 items at once in the bioreactor, meaning if you've got 9 types of items they produce 160mb each.

and then the biomass or biofuel (cant remember wich one ) directly to biofuel generator or to a boiler ? whats best?

A boiler you can achieve the maximum efficiency for your fuel -> mj conversion, but they require a bit of infrastructure, whilst the biofuel generator is just plonk it down. It can produce 16mj/t and will consume 1 bucket in 100 ticks, or 5 seconds

so a bio reactor is always better than a fermenter?

For some forestry saplings, no.

Otherwise, yes. Also, the Biofuel reactor will not process some things like sugar cane and wheat. But it will also process things the fermenter will not, like seeds.

It was more equal in 1.4.7, but then Sengir nerfed the output. MFR did not, and probably will never, follow suit.
