First Ugocraft is a mod focused on putting blocks into motion.

The mod has been updated for 1.4.7, 1.5.1, and works in the ultimate pack -- with a config edit to set it's block ID's to unused ones. May work in the other packs... i only checked ultimate.

In it's config (generated on first laucnh) I changed these three lines:
Block_id.Core=3211
Block_id.Marker=3210
Block_id.Block_with_plate=3212
I just put a 3 in front of the default block ID's.

The site to download Ugocraft is here:

1.4.7 link:
http://www.maocat.net/download/3
1.5.1 link:
http://www.maocat.net/download/9

The movement is similar to frames, but there are no frame blocks -- instead all connected blocks become an entity and are moved.

It has slider motion and rotation. Some truly crazy stuff you can do.

My question was can you make an airship with it. The answer is yes. Probably simpler methods, but here is a quick inchworm drive I put together, so it can move a ship then move the anchor points:

Anyone used Ugocraft before and done independent movement? All the videos i saw involved using fixed anchor points to move a ship along a predetermined path.

Edit:
Further testing. Seems it does not connect with all blocks. Not sure what the rules are/what constitutes a connected structure to it.

Seems neat, but there appears to be a distinct lack of English documentation... and unfortunately I don't speak Japanese =/

I have a feeling that this mod is kinda laggy?
I would add it but I dont wanna bring down my 40fps even more (getting about 200 in vanilla)

I didn't realize changing IDs is all it needed to work with Ultimate :D I thought it didn't work regardless of that though (in the mod suggestion topic it also says it isn't included in FTB because it's supposedly incompatible, which suggests more than just IDs).

I'll probably give it a whirl soon.

Also, for documentation, look up some youtube videos there are plenty in English that explain how the mod works. You can also use google translate to at least get some pointers about stuff and the videos the mod maker has made are surprisingly understandable without him saying a word (he very clearly shows how the blocks work and stuff with clear examples).

You can do a lot of cool stuff with it. Tested the 1.5.1 version as well and it also seems to work on a whitelist of blocks, so mod blocks are not joined to the moving entity.
Not sure why it is flagged as incompatible in the mod suggestion thread, maybe for not working with mod blocks? You could still make some epic looking doors with just vanilla blocks and this mod.

The blocks themselves are surprisingly intuitive to use. They are named well and function roughly the same.

So what happens if you ever land? (or run into a tree?) Do you try to move the entire earth?

Yes it jams up on that.
But there are cover blocks that you could/should coat the outside of the ship with, so it does not connect to other blocks.

I've been fiddling around with Ugocraft and I think it's a bit of a shame it doesn't work with any mod blocks. I mean I would understand if it wouldn't work with special blocks like Tesseracts, pipes and stuff, but basic blocks like red rock from EBXL is a bit weird I think.

That said though, it does work with pistons and has no trouble moving vanilla redstone. So you might be able to push some mod blocks with pistons. But I definitely see why it's marked as incompatible because of this, RP2's frames can move pretty much anything without too many issues.

I've also been thinking and maybe there is also a way to make an inchworm based on the rotation blocks. That could certainly make an interesting looking inchworm I bet :p

It moves every vanilla block, but by default sand, dirt and stone are denied to stop you from moving literally earth and space :).
If you rightclick on a 'core' block with a control panel, you can let it move stone, sand and dirt.
I had some trouble finding out what the 'slide slant' is, it is basically the slider but diagonally, so
if b is any block, f is off block and o is on block this should move. You should put the slide slant under the off block. The - is jus there because forums removed the spaces :(
f
-b
--b
---o

It will move to lower right.
That will make some awesome doors, i think!

This unfortunately, can't replace redpower. Guess why. Come on, come on, guess. It uses modloader. Thus when switching to FML, it cannot be used on multiplayer without also installing modloader and modloaderMP onto the server.

Jakj's Redstone in Motion replaces Frames.
For now.
In fact, I will probably use it all the time.
Requires no energy, can carry stuff not directly touching it, don't need special stuffs to carry tile entities.
It's a dream come true!
One of the few things from RP2 that can never be replaced is Elo's absolutely amazingly wonderful rendition of FORTH.

Yes Whizz.
Because FORTH is so much more inituitive for basic (general) use than LUA or similar.

FORTH ~= The Irish Language
The Irish Language ~= Dead.

The fluid grates are the one RP2 thing I am yet to see replaced.
