Throwing sand in an Induction Smelter with redstone blocks produces a redstone block with a 50% chance to yield rich slag.

Use rich slag to break down Nether redstone ore into three redstone blocks! Then use the rich slag to make more redstone!

You wouldn't want to do that if you want shiny ingots.

INDEED. DO NOT WASTE YOUR REDSTONE ORE BLOCKS LIKE THE OP SUGGESTS!!!! (please don't take it personal, OP, just having fun)

But its SHINY. Everyone loves shiny.

I just made 500 Enderium ingots and still have 500 Shiny ingots left over. I got bored and decided not to finish it up. If I need more Enderium, then I will.

Silk touch is important for one thing - redstone ore block plus a TE Cinnabar in a TE Induction smelter gives a 100% chance for a Shiny Ingot. (EDIT: this is incorrect, see my post below)

I never need more Redstone Dust (I think I have around 5000 Redstone Blocks, which is 45,000 Redstone Dusts lol)... but I always need more Shiny, and more Enderium!

P.S. Once you can make Gelid Cryotheum, it's no longer necessary to use the method above, since you can convert the massive amount of Thaumcraft Cinnabar you will have from your quarry into TE Cinnabar. I remove the silk touch upgrade from EnderQuarry at that point and save on power (even tho I have 14,000 Uranium ingots). LOL Modded Minecraft!

wait what? What do shiny ingots have to do with redstone?

I thought I explained well enough in in my post. Didn't I?

Oh wait... no I didn't, I goofed. LOL

Redstone Ore blocks are used to get Cinnabar (via a Pulverizer), but then you take the Cinnabar and make Shiny Ingots from Ferrous Ore blocks using a TE Induction Smelter.

It's a 100% chance for getting a shiny ingot if you use this method... which is why I said "do not waste your silk-touched Redstone Ore blocks!" Otherwise you'll always be scraping and scrounging for Shiny.

Sorry for the confusion.

Also... if you end up with more cinnabar that you dont know what to do with it, just use it on the induction smelter with other ores. If I recall it correctly, it triples the ore and gives a chance for rich slag. So, in the end, you want to always pulverize the redstone and get cinnabar.

My tip of the day is: Read every single page of NEI, especially for TE machines recipes/EnderIO recipes/TiC Smeltery recipes...

Also since now every pack use MineTweaker and some of the recipes is configurable, double check when you using different modpack or even different versions of same modpack

Yeah... it seems daunting, but seriously, read all of the pages. You'll end up knowing at least something about every mod.
