I've made a setup where my smeltery faucet empties out into casting channels that spread out the molten metal into 7 different smelting tables with ingot casts. This works great until the last bits of molten metal decide to split up into different casts and there isn't enough liquid to finish those casts. I've tried emptying the cast tables with faucets and buckets but nothing seems to work. I have to break the whole table but that is super inconvenient to do every batch, especially since the hopper underneath sucks in the table. If anyone can offer a solution I'd be super greatful

How about emptying the smeltery into tanks, and then do exactly what you are doing but with tanks.

I think you've got two choices; always make sure you've got enough extra material to cover shortfalls for any specific casting location, and/or build a solution with multiple tanks/individual faucets for each casting station.

I really prefer the max-sized smeltery with a row of casting tables/basins down each side.

Why go to the trouble of casting 7 ingots at a time when you can cast a block and split it into 9 ingots in your inventory?

Or, swap out the faucets and channels for enderIO conduits.

If you end up with less than an ingot's worth in the casting table you can invert the direction of the connectors on the table and drain and just suck it back into the smeltery.

Option 1: Adjust the size capacity of your smeltery so it's a multiple of 7. Now you're ensured to have 7 ingots worth of material.

Option 2: Sequential sizing. From your 7 ingot setup, use fluid conduit's to pump into a 4 ingot setup, then again into a 1. Use levers. When the first 7 setup gets jammed, flip a lever to pull the fluid into the 4. If there's still too little, flip another lever to dump it into a single. (Or possibly two options, so you can even go to nuggets if there's not enough for a full ingot.

Option 3: Leave it as is, switch to modded Item Transport for extraction so breaking the casts doesn't dump the table into the hopper.

Another option: In recent versions (going back to some 1.7.10 packs) you could and can make casts of nuggets.

I wonder if dozens of nugget casts would essentially handle every scenario, and at a decent speed.

Not necessarily, but if I have less than an ingot's worth of material, I'd rather end up with 6 more nuggets and have to toss less than a nugget's worth of material... :)

P.S. I also keep up to 8 nuggets handy to add in case I don't have a full ingot. You won't catch me a few fries short of a Happy Meal :D

Maybe it would work 100% if the casting tables were run in sequence and the pipe was of a "always attempt to insert first" variety.
