An oil biome may have "all" the oil but why would I want to set up pump after pump just to harness it? I would rather do ethanol and call it a day. No pump and can be fully automated.

Because fuel has 3 times the energy density of biofuel, and oil field bulbs tend to be connected underground. One pump can run your boilers for an insane amount of time. Only 280 buckets per day per boiler with a 1:1 conversion ratio, opposed to 900 buckets a day of biofuel with 3.3:1 ratio(2:1 late game). It takes 9 times as much biomass to match fuel.

Oh okay so finally a good way to use compressed air cells. Get stacks of those then you would just need to find the best spot to pump for as long as possible and not have to move the pump so often. If you could find a central area to pump then you can drain a good bit of the oil biome with a single pump.

Once you get an oil age or find an oil biome (thank you 1.5 BuildCraft *kisses Sengir on the ass*) you don't even care how big an oil spout is, theres so many spouts nearby it doesn't matter. Also, I've pumped oil to the point where I filled about 2 or 3 BC tanks *grrrrrrrrrrrr*

I wish I had gotten a picture of the one I hit recently.
Spout was up to the natura cloud level. Easily 40000 buckets.

My friend recently came across one of those. There's a glass block about 10 blocks down though, before any kind of underground well. I don't know if it's really all that big.
