Hey guys, I was wondering if there was an add-on to either Thermal Expansion/Mekanism (or both) that makes the machines more temperamental (less reliable), in the sense that they occasionally break down, whether this is constant, or there is an upgrade to make it so they don't do this, I don't mind, but I don't like the fact that, as long as they are powered, they will always work with no issues.

I have also been thinking about about this issue. The only trouble I see is to prevent having to repair your machines from becoming a tedious job. Not sure exactly how this would work out.

well maybe there could be an efficiency augment (TE) and maybe the more power upgrades installed the more efficient the machine would be (mekanism)

Doesnt exist. Im not sure what you had in mind when it comes to maintaining the machines, putting them into an anvil? Doesnt sound like fun to me. You could choose to complicate the process creatively.

Well you could do a bit like is done in RotaryCraft and require the player to apply 'lubricant' to machines that supposedly have moving parts (like a pulverizer).

That could turn into 'tedium' pretty soon I think. Unless it happens very infrequently. A much more interesting mechanic would be that you have to apply (for example) lubricant and then you can make things interesting by allowing the player to automate the lubricant flow so that the machine doesn't break anymore. So in other words: machines without automated lubricant supply will break from time to time but a player with sufficient willingness to automate can get past that hurdle.

That could work, I guess a person only really needs 3 (max) of the 5 available slots for automating everything else...
But I was thinking it could be a good use of the augment system, and it would also give players a reason to upgrade to higher tiers (hardened, reinforced, resonant) so they could have less encounters with this issue. E.g. without augments the machine will break down every 10-20 uses (it's early game, so I think this is fair) 1 augment added = breakdown every 25-40 uses... and then with 4 added (forcing at least hardened machine frame) no breakdowns, or a breakdown every 1000+ uses, or something
