Thermal Expansion 3 Mob spawning on snow

I build all my stuff on a platform which I've considered quite safe but it turns out a mob from thermal expansion ( looks like snow blaze ) can spawn in bright areas if there is snow coverage. I was wondering if anyone knows the the spawning conditions of them because they seem could be a considerable pain to me or great us as there loot in used in TE3 stuff.

Well, something that popped up in another thread, they only spawn in snowy biomes for a start to your spawn conditions.
 
Looks like I have to be on my guard. It all so appears they attack neutral mobs like cows. They throw what looks like ice balls.
 
I build on an open air platform where part of of it was in an snow biome and it only happened after there was snow fall.
