Pro: Starts at a low Y level so it isn't so tedious to dig for diamonds, or gold, and the such.
Con: Because it starts so low copper is almost UNHEARD of.
Pro: There are plenty new things underground, such as torchberries and that weird wood found in caves. When mining the brown wood with an axe, chainsaw, blablabla, you get 4 sticks! And with the torchberries you can put 2 of them on top of a stick just like a torch. (individually) With that you get 5 torches! You'll never have to use coal again!
Con: The torchberries are not very common.
Pro: There aren't many creeps on top of the surface although...
Con: With there not being many on the surface, that means more underground. Also, the twilight introduces a ton of new mobs. With that being said, their sounds are CREEPY. ("hehehe hahaha"). Still with the introduction of that, some mobs stay, and some even improve. The minotaur proves to be a tough egg to crack.
Pro: The new mobs still drop some good items?
Con: The. Mobs. Are. TOUGH. (most of them)

What's your decision? What do you think? Should the Twilight area just be for quarries? Is it good for mining? What do you do against the mobs? How do you mine in the Twilight zone? Give me your opinions and share your thoughts.
(I need some help, what do you call it? Twilight area? The Twilight? Twilight Zone? Twilight Forest? D: )

wandering aimlessly in the twilight forest is one of my favorite activities while i'm pondering what to build/do next.

this, of course, includes hopping down into the hundreds of caves all over the place and grabbing whatever's sticking out

Hollow hills aren't bad at all.

If you go in there with a sword, you're insane. I use a potency+charging wand and just go to town. Plus, it's especially rewarding when the only thing left in there is the occasional wraith.

Or you can be boring and quarry/turtle it.

I prefer a sword myself with enought gravel and torches to light up and block off the area as I work.

Hmm, I really need a game plan for them.
I kinda go in, light it up as I go, and once it's all lit and the chests are looted, I'll mine the top parts.

But sometimes, I'll do the same thing I do with burrows, I'll dig around the area and only touch the chests that I can easily reach without being seen by mobs. So I'll dig behind everything. Then I'll leave, because I was going for the Uncrafting Table.
I've never quarried one, but maybe I'll try. Maybe some kind of special hollow hill quarrying program that mixes a surface quarry with the inventory check? Mine only stone for 4 layers, and presto! All the ores laid out for you. And maybe a program that will check for chests and take all the items from the inside, for the loot, of course.

It'd be cool if you could code a program so it never mined any ores and only stone.

Then you could fortune/silktouch

Or it'd mine ore ores and not like redstone etc

Wouldn't doubt it, and that would actually be pretty neat.

Someone get on that.

Darn, if I only knew enough lua...

I tend to only mine the hollow hills as I love exploring Twilight Forest too much to just stop and mine without the dungeon features going on around me.

Wait, I just found one of those hollow hills... What's so great about them other than the few chests I found and the MOBS of Minotaurs.

Depending on how far you are into the game, it adds back that aspect of dangerous exploration even pretty late into the game. I play with GregTech so Quantum Suit armour is a bit late as far as my play style.

Minotaurs give good xp, the mazestone looks amazing, Minoshrooms give even more xp, maze slimes give charms of life and lots of slimeballs if you can't find a swamp, and if you want, you can live in one and have parts of your home surrounded by bedrock!
