I've also seen packs where spruce leaves drop pine nuts, just like apples.

Birch, Acacia, and Dark oak are just "decoration" in every pack/mod I've seen so far.

Is anyone else experiencing problems using shift while walking on the edge of chiseled blocks. I thought at first that it just might be my shift key on my keyboard failing but it seems to work everywhere else.

Also, I've decided that I can't watch funshinex play Langoliers anymore. he makes me feel woefully inadequate.

I ran my sieves through 3 stacks. Still did not get all of the 1% drops.

But getting none of 13 of them? ... That's bad luck.

You need to sieve 300 items to have a 95% chance of finding any given 1% drop. As the number of items to collect goes up, the number of items to sieve goes up. A 1% drop rate basically means "you are expected to use automation, not manual". Sieves are not balanced for manual use, they are balanced for automation.

... and I got my first after 9 sieves of topiary grass. :)

EDIT: First stack, 5 items of 3 types.

EDIT: 3 stacks, 11 items (not the full 13), 7 were multiples.

The fact that I go into a "safe spot", hold down right click, and watch TV while the sifting is going on should speak volumes about what I think about it.

Growing dirt? ... Yea, give me an automatic tree cutter, hoppers to stuff things into the barrels, and hoppers to pull the dirt out of the barrels. I'm not playing. And it's a boring way to earn the right to play.

This is Mine, Craft. Not "Vein chop, grab, stuff, remove, repeat Craft".

===

My episode 5 is uploading now. ... Silly counting, 28 clay needs 4 times as much sand and gravel ...

Episode 5.

This episode has me sieving, barreling clay, getting iron, buckets, and setting things up inside the house, lighting the house and roof, setting up industry, etc. Several achievements and a few quests.

After all, the wool ground is flammable, I don't want to be relying on it. So, it's inside the house for safety. It is safe, right? No missed lighting?

Food is no longer a problem; I have more types and quantities than I'll ever need. Carrying all those food items ... I need a lunch bag. It's just paper, right?

How much of that dirt ground will I have to chew up? I need paper for the next stage, and that comes from dirt.

Ending with getting the grout for the Smeltery.

Why not just replace the wool with dirt or, better yet, planks. I know some people swear by half slabs but---as a professional klutz---I walk off of them even easier than i do planks.
