[Welcome]
Hi there,
This thread is for player feedback, suggestions and recruitment. The Grid Empire is a server idea in progress. Please share your thoughts down below.
[Description]
The core concept of The Grid Empire is based around 3 C's: Communities, Construction & Connectivity. The server will be divided into a grid like pattern where the community area's are centralized for easy access.
To start out you're given a (5 by 10 chunk) personal plot that is yours only. Represented by light green in the picture.
You'll have 3 neighbours with a similar personal plot. In between of this lies the (10 by 10 chunk) neighbourhood plot represented by blue. This neighbourhood plot is shared with all 4 residents bordering it. Only you and your neighbours will have permission to build and destroy here.
Other people can come visit your builds and there will be contests where people can vote on who has the coolest looking neighbourhood.
_____
Time to scale things up: In the corners of the grid lies the (20 by 20 chunk) district plot. Represented by glowstone.
The 2 adjecent neighbourhoods, so 8 people in total, have shared custody over this area similar to how the neighbourhood plot works, except it's a lot bigger.
In total there will be 4 districts. Each neighbourhood and district is connected via an extensive high speed monorail network to allow people to quickly travel to other locations.
_____
Next step up: In the center of the grid, represented by red, lies the massive PvP area. Totaling in over 2000 chunks.
Depending on the server plugin options this can be the battleground for many differently themed adventures. For example a planetside-like (faction based) capture & hold concept, or something as simple like a weekly resetting mining pit in the center where you fight other districts for precious resources. Building a stipmine machine in the PvP area for example might prove difficult when other districts can demolish your building. You'll have to work together to protect it and share the spoils.
For a better grasp on the scale of the plots, here's a quick video to visualize it:
Building contests will also be a big part of the server. For example: You'll be given a new plot outside the grid borders that you share with friends. The contest theme that particular week might be to build something like a giant pirate ship/factory/treehouse or whatever, at the end of which the team with the coolest build will receive a prize.
The most popular projects will be saved to stay immortalized forever in the outside world. There will also be a trophy room with portals leading to all the contest builds to visit them quickly.
_____
The server will mainly focus on survival with a long term progression in mind. To give players a stable home that can't be grieved yet you are encouraged to work together with your community for bigger builds. Instead of having a crowded spawn where everyone wants to be close too, The Grid ensures everyone's plot is an equal distance from key areas without unfair (dis)advantages.
Alright, lemme know what you think.
If you like the idea, have experience, and want to be part of this project contact me in PM. (Currently open: Server expert & community manager/webmaster (forum/website and teamspeak))
