Did you mean you had to combine two Sharpness III books to get it to IV, or that you went with Sharpness IV as the first then tried to add another one, but couldn't?

For the record, I don't think you can get Sharpness V on a book, so you have no choice but to combine two IV's. Not sure why you can't add more enchantments to it. Although the only thing you're missing there is Fire Aspect really... Disjunction isn't that useful, and you would have to add it before Sharpness anyway. As for Knockback, it's kind of annoying actually, as sending the mobs flying doesn't help with dispatching them as quickly as possible.

As a huge fan of Fire Aspect, it pains me to say this, but it's not that useful. First, the damage it does is slow and if you're two-shotting stuff then it won't be too useful. Secondly, as of a few updates ago, flaming melee mobs (zombies and I think spiders) will set you on fire when they hit you. So of all of the enchantments you lost, you lost the useful ones.
Also, if your sword is a Sword of the Zephyr, you don't need Knockback because of the rightclick wind-shield of glory.

Really? Unless this changed recently, renaming the item permanently caps it at 2. You don't have to rename a second time after repairing/enchanting.

I only had one Sharpnesss IV book, so I couldn't make it Sharpness V at the time. I was planning to do that later when I eventually got the right book, but after I added Unbreaking III I found I couldn't do anything more to it at an anvil. Then again, it may change its mind if I put a Sharpness IV book in there...

Agreed, I don't like Knockback...it means more arrows in your face and all of your drops/XP go flying. Fire Aspect makes Endermen go nuts so I'm leaving that out too.

I'll take an unenchanted weapon over a fire aspect one any day. Mobs killed by fire aspect don't drop experience unless you've hit them very shortly before they died; while a mob is taking fire damage, you can't hit it again, so you have to time your swings in between fire ticks to have them do any damage; in 1.5, melee mobs will set you on fire after you've done the same to them; you can't get raw food out of your animals, which is sometimes what you want instead of cooked (villager trading, infernal furnace cooking for nuggets, etc.) Worst enchant in my book.

Give me Sharpness V and Looting III, and I'll never ask for anything else. Maybe Repair II if it's a thaumium sword (and Unbreaking III never hurts), but I wouldn't use a sword of the zephyr as my main weapon due to the way it interacts with zombie pigmen. You'll end up hitting and killing yourself with it if you try to use it on them.

^ Can you explain that in more detail? I typically don't attack Zombie Pigmen so I'm not really worried, but I'd like to know what would happen if I did.

Don't know the exact mechanics, but I seem to take damage every time I hit one. Might only happen if multiple ones are around. I managed to get "ThemsAllTook was slain by ThemsAllTook" one time when I was taking a sword of the zephyr into the nether to try to recover some of my gear.

I'm going to say what nobody else has said...
Dire does indeed cheat, and it does indeed cause suport tickets and help requests just like this when he does.

He loves his ubertools, and he makes them in creative (you hit X in creative mode in NEI) and then claims they are made from natural enchantments and books, and then things like this happen.

I really wish he wouldn't, as it leads to no end of confusion.

Further you add in that there's 1.4.2 before bugfixes, 1.4.7 with it's own bugfixes, 1.4.7 post bugfixes and potentially 1.5.2 versions floating around, each with slightly different variations on how things can work, vs how the mod makers meant them to work.

I'm skeptical to believe this because I have, in fact, built a better sword of the zephyr than his with literally maxed out enchants for everything before hitting the limit.

Did I do something special? Not particularly; perhaps naming it? Iunno, but many of the Mindcrackers have also done the same, and they're notorious for no cheaty stuff.

I think I know what ICountFrom0 was referring to there. If I recall correctly, in one of this episodes when Direwolf was trying to get enchants on his sword, he added Unbreaking first, then tried to add Repair. As I said previously in this thread, this will not work, you need to add Repair first. But Direwolf said the anvil 'ate' his book (or something to that effect), then after a cut he said he relogged and that fixed it. But what he probably did was added Repair on his sword using cheat mode.

And before anybody jumps me for 'hating' on Direwolf, I am not, just saying he probably cheated. I will often cheat in IC2 machines when I forget and try to break them with a pickaxe.

Ah, if that's what he meant, then yeah, probably.

I wouldn't know, I've actually never gotten a Repair book before (always get repair as the enchant, then slap unbreaking on later afterwards).

There's nothing wrong with him doing things like that, it makes for a better show. He's not there to do things in any given way, here's there to be entertaining.

I just get a little grumpy when it causes problems here, with people thinking that things will work exactly as he showed them.

(a few of his other tools have been likewise impossible, but where not when he planned the episode, due to updates.)

On-topic: I've previously created an uber-sword of the Zephyr by enchanting it (with 30 levels) first THEN adding anything else by book.
I got Sharpness 4 Repair 2 Vorpal 2 if I recall correctly, so I just maxed the vorpal and sharpness, and added looting and unbreaking by book.
