I live in a desert temple. I have an aura node on top of it. I have destroyed this thing twice already, and each time I have so far, a new node appears after a bit. What gives ?

How soon after destroying it does it come back?
Are you having some lag issues?
I also think that there is a config option to retrogen nodes back into the game, if this is set to true, maybe when you leave the chunk, and it reloads, the node is re-created?

Just guesses on my part.

Do you exit the game after destroyign the node?
I have noticed that items placed, or removed, from thaumcraft pedestals are sometimes not saved properly (causing items to be duplicated or lost) if the game is closed soon/immediately after the action.

Unless it's a hungry node, there is no real concern as to the location of the node, and hey, are you really complaining about a seemingly infinite source of essence?
On another note, have you tried to move the node via the node in a jar? If so, what happens when you do that?

I'd estimate a few hours at least.

Nope to exiting the game.

The first one was a hungry node, which is why I destroyed it. Then this one appeared. I destroyed it. A 3rd one appeared.

Just annoying to see on top of my man pad.

SSP?
If this is on a server I'd posit that someone is pranking you.
There is simply no mechanisim in Thaumcraft by which nodes are spontaneously created in the world. Well there is one - if you use the primal wand focus it can sometimes create a node - but usually it blows stuff up and Im sure you would have noticed yourself using it, or the crater.

Seems to happen, and I can confirm at the next restart, to be occuring on restarts.

Don't think this is true....

It happens to me a lot. I move to a new area or start a new world and I have almost no nodes near me. After a couple IRL days, there are a lot of nodes where I live. If I start wandering too much time in areas without nodes, nodes start appearing...

That makes no sense. Unless you are the last airbender.

I know! They are supposed to be generated at world generation and only there (unless you create them manually).

But... when I was playing Ultra Hard Survival and started doing my Thaumcraft research I had to go scout for all the nodes I could use and I found 5 or 6 nodes near my base.
Later, I start finding more and more nodes near my base! And I couldnt had missed them before, since a node with 126 Terra is quite visible at night!!!

I also start finding nodes in other places further from my base that where not there the first time I scouted the area! It seemed the more time I spent on some area, the more nodes would start appearing with time!

After that, I played other packs and noticed the same behaviour! In Resonant Rise, I was building an underwater base and when I started I had one node near me. After a week or two I had 7 or 8 nodes near! And nodes over the water are very easy to spot even without googles, so no, I didnt missed them when I moved there at the beginning.
