TC4 research is simply put crap. Just doing it once feels more like a chore than playing a game. Then you have to do it again on your new world....So this time i didnt do anything with TC4. Lots of other mods that do what TC4 does but in a much better way.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but I respectfully disagree.

I also disagree. I've replayed TC3 3 times, and the 2nd time through was mind-numbing. However, TC4 is (still) very interesting my 2nd play-through. I can much better focus my research and moving nodes around while trying to minimize aspects and ink is an interesting challenge.

It's also far less frustrating. I toss sheets away much more frequently now, even if they are doable. I toss if the starting node is in the middle of the other nodes. This creates painful pathing issues. Tossing a sheet is cheaper than spending aspects and ink, assuming I have an abundance of the aspect I started the sheet with.[DOUBLEPOST=1390519439][/DOUBLEPOST]
The level of rhetoric ongoing in this thread needs to be dialed down about three notches.

Reminds me of this.

Respectfully disagree. The Infusion Altar mechanic - including aspects in jars, plumbing, etc.,. - is very unique. The golems are also unique and fit better into MC, IMHO, than CC turtles.

Thaumcraft is as much about style and experience (aka journey) as it is about substance (the end result).

I agree with this, though for the record golems aren't even in the same league as turtles (IMO only Steve's Factory Manager is). Regardless, the mechanics are fun as hell, that much is true.

That's the main reason I hate the research so much, really. It just gets in the fun I could be having with the mod.

I also agree Turtles are hella powerful. I had a blast writing a few Lua programs myself, my most polished of which is a (up to) 20x20x2 Peat Farm. I missed the MC 1.4.7 Forestry Peat Farms and found the Multifarm version to be lacking, so I made my own.

The golems, however, are a nice change of pace. No Lua required and they're pretty fun to watch. I've watched more than my fair share of Turtles doing their job, and even more time *not* doing their job, i.e. going off into the weeds, due a bug in my Lua code ;-)

It takes me four times as long to do anything with turtles because I spend time bug-fixing my code, unlike golems which I set and forget.
